Ratings & Reviews+

Black & Decker Programmable Digital Kettle is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as Advertised No more burnt lips. Water is the temperature you want it to be. You can set any temperature in addition to the preset ones. Beeps when ready. Comfortable handle. Filling is a little difficult because lid needs to open further; but I got used to it and it's not a problem. Does not dribble. Excellent quality. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Well worth the money, works great and good build quality. Small things we don't like. 1. After the water has boiled, it continues to monitor the temperature, which is nice except when it gets back to room temp. it beeps...even at say 1am. We've got in the habit of just unplugging it when we go to bed so it doesn't beep. 2. As mentioned by others, the lid does not open far enough, but you get use to it. 3. By the description I assumed you could set it to ANY temp. (ie. warming water for baby formula), but the lowest you can set it (that I can find) is 150F, which is obviously way too hot so you have to mix in cold water after. It's fine, but just not what I thought I was buying based on the description.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy Kettle I had purchased another model of a Black and Decker kettle but returned it because it felt like it would fall apart (cheaply made). This one is sturdy and feels good in your hand. The two things I'm not thrilled about are the lid on the top - hard to fill the kettle as it doesn't open enough and it's awkward to get under a tap and the other is that the different programs are a bit complicated until you get used to them. Other than that, it's working great so far and also has a good look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exact temperature settings, modern look! My first digi-kettle, I've had it, and used it 2-3 times a day for about a month - it works well and has made my life easier. No more waiting for boiled water to reduce to a point that I can use it. No scalding! I like that I can use one of the pre-set buttons, and then customise further with the +/- buttons. I don't like that I have to plug/unplug it to turn it on/off. It has an auto-shut-off after about 30 minutes if I wait. I don't like that the alert beep doesn't work for any setting outside of the 6 pre-set temps. Overall, I'm happy with my kettle. It was between this and the Gordon Ramsey one for me, which is quite similar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from get it if it's on sale, but only then. ive had this for about a month, use it almost daily, and so far it's been working consistently. the only issue i have with this, is that according to the thermometer I have, it doesn't get as hot as it says on screen. nevertheless, i haven't had issues making tea, I just wonder if I would have better tea if it were more accurate (im no connoisseur, but that was the reason i bought this.) also bear in mind that after it boils and shuts off, the temperature declines quite rapidly, especially if it's cold inside. so basically i just use it on the highest setting, which is boiling... so im not sure if it was really worth it to fork out the cash for this thing. i also really wish it had a keep warm setting. i'm really hoping it continues working. i would recommend getting a more popular programmable kettle of you really want one, such as those made by Breville. you'll probably want one with a "keep warm" setting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent kettle but lacking... Kettle heats up fast and I like the various temperature options but 3 complaints are: 1) it's loud when boiling water, much louder than my old basic black & decker kettle. 2) you cannot change the temperature display from Fahrenheit to Celsius, so I have to get used to water boiling at 212 rather than 100. 3) the worst part is about half an hour after making tea is makes a loud beep (like testing a smoke detector) to let you know the water inside the kettle has returned to room temperature. Why? It's annoying. And again another 45 minutes or so later the same loud beep will happen to let you know the kettle is going to sleep. Again, annoying. I want to rip the speaker out of it.
