Ratings & Reviews+

Cedar Summit Forest Hill Retreat Wooden Play Set - F23180 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Playset! I had questions too... Let's stare here - this is an excellent playset. It is solid as a rock. The kids love it. Three on the swings and more in the playhouse and the structure does not move a bit. I mean it is solid. I thought it might be too small, but it is acctually bigger than I anticipated. The cedar is excellent quality. The slide is excellent quality (except that one segment came with a small crack). The only downside is assembley. They give you everything you need, but expect it to take you the better part of two days. And at least one other helper during certain parts is essential. I would strongly advise spending the time to organize all of the parts and hardware before you begin, as this will save you significant time along the way. Bottom line - if you have the time to assemble, or someone to do it for you, this is a no brainer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slide's plastic is very poor qaulity My children received this gift from both sets of grandparents for Christmas. It's an amazing play set; however, immediately the bracing/brackets around the slide broke. Even the pre drilled holes around the bolts are no longer in tact at every single junction. So even if we replaced the braces we would have no intact hole to bolt the two tubes together. Now the slide is dysfunctional b/c all of the tubes have cracks and has left gaps in the slide at each section. The slide was the main purpose for buying this particular play set. We would have to buy an entirely new slide; however, I don't see anyway of preventing this unless thicker material was used. Sad! I'm trying to upload an additional pic of the bottom of the slide but it keeps stating I've reached my time limit exceeded, unable to upload. Buy the play set with a straight slide.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Inrtuctions for installation Overall this product is ok. Yous should honestly think about having your boxes labeled by number or something, because having all the numbered boards all mixed up in different boxes all over made for extra hours just finding the pieces we needed. There would be boards in the 1400's in box 1 mixed with boards in the 2500's then box 3 with more boards from 1400's. Boxes should have labels and boards organized appropriately for example; box 1 has the boards from numbers 1000- 2500 in it, box 2 2500- 4500. This would have made things so much easier to find and less hours trying to find what we need. After all was said and done, was very unsatisfied with the effort and the amount of mistakes the instruction manual had in it, while putting this together. From Boards having wrong numbers on it, to certain things in the pictures not being what we received ( Mounts, and screws ) The book would tell you to set it up one way, and we would soon find out the book was wrong it had to be done another way. This made for extra hours being used to go back and take apart things to get them to fit or go together proper. Example The slide; was one of thee biggest pain in the butts ever. The instruction manual says to attach flange and then continuously keep adding each part of the tube slide as you go. Yeah ok. That slide cannot be put together while attached to play set. It has to be assembled on the ground, then once fully put together, then attach to play set. We only figured that out because an online video showed it being assembled on the ground then attached, yet the instruction manual said to put together while it was already attached to play set. Another thing that was a waste of time was manual said put all the siding panels on the roof, then all of a sudden after thinking we had finished the roof, then the instructions on the next page then say remove 4 of those boards to put dormers on, again these should have been put on as we were installing the roof not after we finished putting all the boards on. Instructions are poorly written and made for wasted hours trying to figure out certain things. We had certain boards crack because there was a knot in the wood. Yous had pre drilled holes right on top of knots in the wood, so when we went to screw in the bolts it resulted in some boards cracking. The one window dormer when put together Didn't align up right no matter how hard we tried, so it is not fully closed on the seem and the white plastic is now kinda off from the other dormer. Also we found while putting things together a lot of the cedar boards were warped and very hard to line up and get things flush! Overall the process was very stressful and poor. It took wasted hrs fixing things, or going back to re due things because instructions were so poorly written and confusing, boards warped to much, having screws coming into contract with lag bots, splitting boards because the pre drilled holes were in knots, mislabeled board, and again the instructions just made things more complicated then it needed to be!! Once it was finally finished after not 8-10 hrs like it had said more like almost 3 days, so much frustration and stress. It all seemed worth it seeing the kids have so much fun. But for $1700 it just seemed like things should have went smoother and instructions could have been more clear, boards shouldn't have been so warped know have you put screws into knots on the boards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing Pieces My husband and I have been trying to put this thing together for three weeks now. We get started each time and then realize there is another piece missing. So far, we are missing 3 different boards and we could not move on until my husband went to the store to buy another piece of wood like what should have been provided. We are about halfway done so who knows, there may be more pieces missing that we haven't found out yet. Not very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quailty Bought this for my daughter, and was put together by my wife and myself. It does take a little longer then stated, but that has some to do with the way we built it. After about two hours going through all the parts, and hardware making sure everything was there, the building then started. We did it in 4 days each around 3-4 hours. A lot of time could of been saved if spread everything out in number order, but we picked the pieces needed for each step as needed for in each step. If you want to build fast 1 person getting the parts ready for next step would save hours! Over all the wood was a decent quality and all the holes lined up very well. The instructions were easy to follow, and pictures pretty good also. We didn't have any problems with the slide as others have? We did bolt all the pieces together in beginning and left in sun to get that more round shape. It was a little hard, but not as some people claim. We hope to get many years out of this set. Happy so far with purchase!!!
