perfect for our shepherd! she loves to play fetch man does this toy fly simple flick of the wrist and it goes 40 yards. This is a toy for fetch not to chew on. Once we are done it goes away. Her favorite toy by far! when we go out once a day to play i let her pick whicb toy when  pull it out this is her default toy over half the time.

Pros: Relatively cheap, easy to see bright colors, just the right weight for long throws, soft foam rather than hard plastic, floats well, pretty tough, easy to repair with duct tape.
Cons: seams eventually fail.
My active lab and I live in the mountains of Wyoming. On days that we don't hunt birds, we walk for 3-4 miles on gravel roads in all four seasons. While I walk, I throw a bumper for her at least 75 times per walk. The bumper gets used very hard. I have tried a lot of bumpers and none have lasted more than a few days except the Chuckit! Alas, even the Chuckit! fails after a few weeks at its sewn seams. No problem though, a few wraps of colorful duct tape and the bumper holds together for several more months. Pro-Tip: tie an 18”-24” piece of colorful light ribbon or string to the end of the bumpers cord to help spot the bumper when using it in powder snow. The picture shows a Chuckit! With thousands of throws that has been repaired with dust tape and has a streamer attached to find it in deep snow.

Great value, pretty tough, easy to repair.

These bumpers are perfect for my black Lab retriever who is obsessed with retrieving on land or water. I use them both for fun and for training. My only issue is that that side seams wear out after while and I sew them back up with dental floss. This is not from chewing but from normal dog use. The seams could have a touger sew.
