Ratings & Reviews+

Colorist Secret Haircolour Remover is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unimpressed! I've always bleached/dyed my hair myself and always been aware of the risks involved with home hair bleaching... so I was pretty prepared for my hair to turn from black to a horrible reddish orange or have streaks etc etc, but I had also bought a hiar dye to dye over the top, as suggested on the packet. I hadnt bleached my hair in over a year and I thought it best to do a strand test beforehand, and i'm glad I did. THE PRODUCT DID NOTHING! I had blonde and red hair prior to dying it black, and i've re-touched my roots with black hairdye for the last year and a half. This haircolour remover clearly states it will remove any colour, irrelevant of when the hair was dyed. I left the strand test for an hour and 2 minutes and nothing, not even a shae lighter. I'm not a professional, but I have bleached my hair probably 30+ times in my life and for the price of the product, it should have done more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it said! First: READ. Second: RE-READ. The directions say you will end up with orangish colored hair. The directions say you will NOT return to your original hair color. The directions say you will need to recolor your hair after use of this product! With all this in mind, and with my thick, below shoulder length hair, I bought and used two applications/packages. It removed my red mistake and lightened my dark auburn colored hair (x25 years) and left me with bright orange hair. I elected to wait a day to recolor my hair. I'm 90% gray by the way. My test strand of "Reddish Blonde" looks gorgeous even though I seem to have had three shades of orange. I applied color to the root of test strands (lighter two shades) and then after 13 minutes, I applied the color to the rest of the strand. My results are gorgeous.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OMG!!! Remover is right! I love L'oreal haircolor, especially RB6. I had tried a different shade and I didn't like it. I used the Haircolor Remover. WHOA! You should DEFINITELY do a test before you use it on your hair!!!! I didn't and I used it for 30 minutes as per the instructions. Way too long! 20 minutes would probably have been enough. But it was MY mistake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked for me I have very fine hair, and not a lot of it. I have used this product once before, so I knew a strand test was necessary. It only took 5 minutes to strip the medium to darkish brown color from my hair. I had bad color build up on the ends- dark ends, lighter roots-ugh! Know that your hair will look very scary when you rinse product. Mine was uneven blond and orange- it was terrifying. I immediately colored my hair back to it's original light brown color ( Feria #60) Very pleased w/ results!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very effective, not too smelly I used this to strip my dark auburn hair down to redye it brown. It worked like the box said. It stripped to a blond and orange shade (as stated on box) and my hair did not feel too dry. I promptly redyed it brown. I want to get back to my natural light brown color but I figure the dark brown I redyed it will fade gracefully. It worked well when I brushed the stuff on my hair with a little brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent dye AND natural color remover My hair is naturally medium brown, I've been dying it black for a couple years, and wanted to go to a dark brown. I tried Oops which I've used and loved in the past, but it just wasn't strong enough to get the black out. It removed only very little black. So I decided to try this L'Oreal product which advertises as if it's a dye remover but is actually a mild bleaching product. Well, this worked. This removed the black. Just as with Oops it came out a little odd and uneven but that's what you expect. Also just as with the Oops it didn't ruin my hair. I have long, strong, healthy hair which felt a little bit gummy and stripped for a couple days but restored nicely after I colored it and deep conditioned a few times. However, unlike the Oops, this L'Oreal product removed the color in my new growth. I did not purposefully put it on my roots, you're not supposed to put it on roots, but some leeched there and wound up laying on the top of my head. I went from black hair with brown roots to uneven brown hair with bright electric yellow roots, the way you would if you bleached on purpose. Oops, which is not bleach, does not do that. It worked out fine, I dyed my hair dark brown and it's fine. But like the one other review says, just so you know, this is a bleaching product, not an Oops-type color remover product. My recommendation is try the Oops first and if that doesn't work then use this, which will strip your hair more but will definitely work.
