Description & Features+

It is the pinnacle of the Roman Empire, a time of mighty gladiators, lusty women, and a ferocious one-eyed monster that slaughters those foolish enough to enter his forest domain. The corrupt emperor Tiberius (Academy Award(R)-Nominee, Eric Roberts) has a plan to please the bloodlust of the people: Capture the creature and unleash him in the arena against his condemned slaves, including the wrongfully imprisoned General Marcus Romulus (Kevin Stapleton of "One Life To Live"). Now the ultimate battle between man and beast is about to begin... and Rome will taste the full fury of Hell unleashed. Frida Farrell co-stars in this over-the-top action epic, now featuring scenes of carnage too intense for broadcast television.

Ratings & Reviews+

Cyclops is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cyclops Once I overlooked the video-game quality CGI of the Cyclops and took the film for what it what meant to be, a cheesy, low budgeted fun movie that the "King of the Bs" Roger Corman is so well known for, it wasn't too bad, and I didn't go to bed cursing "why did I waste my precious sleep time staying up late to watch it." Obviousllyl most of the budget must have went for Eric Roberts' salary, and he delivers a capable performance as Caesar Tiberious, playing it as if he were cast in a big-budgeted epic. The plot borrows s a few elements from Russell Crowe's far superior "Gladiator" as the Roman Centurian leader is stripped of his rank and sent to the gladitorial pits for disobeying an order. After this the story veers off to a "Sci-Fi Channel original" movie of the week-type plot. While in gladiator school, the ex-general befriends his former enemy and together must battle the deadly, one-eyed Cyclops that the ex-General had recently captured before his demotion, and is now the main star of Caesar's arena games. But the Cyclops escapes and terrorizes Rome, ala an 8 foot King Kong roaming the streets of New York. Like I said, not a terrible movie, and if it's your cup of mead, rent it, or wait a few weeks and watch it on the Sci-Fi Channel. Except the good part in watching it on DVD is you're not bombarded with commercials every 5 minutes. I sure miss Ray Harryhausen though.
