It works fine for a beginner like me, but it doesn't contain a rose red so you can't mix purple. Also a zinc white for mixing is a nice addition because this only includes titanium white.

I use this on paper to practice technique, since I am fairly novice. The paint lacks the odor a lot of expensive paint has, telling me it's a bit more "chemically produced," if that makes sense. The darks are not firm enough to use for a Bob Ross or other wet-on-wet styles, but the lights work fine for highlighting. You also won't get the color to stick well if you coat the canvas with a medium first. The tubes are a bit small, so don't expect to get more than two or three paintings out of colors like white. 

But this is a great product for a beginner or for practice.

Good for practice

A two-star rating is generous. These oil paints, while I did not have high hopes let me down. They're much too thin, they don't have enough pigment and the colors are dull. I would not recommend these as even a cheap option, save your money. I wouldn't pay more than two dollars to get these again and probably would decline them even if they were free.

Don't buy, two stars is generous

My painting looked good right after I painted it. After about two months, everything painted with the white had turned yellow. My pristine mountain landscape has been polluted!

These are the worst oil paints I have ever used. Often people get discouraged when starting oil painting simply because the materials they have purchased are inferior. I wouldn't even call these oil paints, as they are majority filler and so thin as to be similar in texture to gauche. Please, if your starting out in oils, buy Winsor and Newton, Gamblin, or other high-quality brands. The learning curve will be much less frustrating.
