Shape Retention

Reading online this item is supposed to be identical to men's guards 52 count. Must be a new item. I have both here just opened this. It's a different shape and much thinner. The original 52 count which Walmart still sells .since I last bought it a month or two ago they have doubled the price from $15 and change to almost $29

I will take a picture of the two packages to show how they they're not the same and when you go online, they tell you they are. To me false advertising, and misleading your customer.

Men's guards

walmart.com

The new design and shape do not improved the product. I have used the old pads every since prostate surgery due to incontinence. The old ticket pads were very reliable. The new pads with the narrower, shorter extension between the legs leaks more.

I find it interesting that the graphic showed mostly 5 star reviews but in reading the individual reviews, I found that they were almost all 1 star. I found two 3 star and one 5 star reviews. There fine print said they were incentivized by getting"free product". Basically it appears that the good reviews were bought by the company. I will be looking for better products.

The automated assistant is not very original. Each response essentially says the same thing. AI is not a good image. Good luck trying to sell this "product".

Bad changes

depend.com

This has been a horrible experience. I have purchased a similar item from Walmart.com several times, but when I went to re-order, the price had DOUBLED. I scrolled down and found this "similar" item (that I thought was comparable) for a similar price that I was used to spending. These pads were much thinner, almost completely non-absorbent, and required two pads instead of one for any protection. NEVER AGAIN!

Product is more comfortable BUT that's it. Extra width at front is good but too narrow at bottom. Also too short. Needs to go further down. Remember gravity? They are more like a shield for very light leaks. Have used Depend for 5 years but no more. Will throw the rest of my opened 52 pack in the garbage. So long Depend.

Terrible change to product .. go back to original!

I am terribly disappointed in the new guards. Wore the old style for 21 years and they worked great. The new guards don't handle surges as well and allow leakage on the sides. Don't know who thought these were better, but they aren't for my needs. Please bring the old style back. If not, time to find a new brand!

New product doesn't work for me!

I've relied on Depends for many years. The “improved” version is definitely NOT an improvement for the consumer. They are more prone to leakage and less absorbent than the older version but at the same price. Because they have so much less absorbent material , they are more comfortable but they do not serve their intended purpose. I will be looking for alternatives.

Not new or improved

The new protection guards are terrible. I always used the old ones and they never leaked. The new ones leak all the time out the side. They leak into my underwear every time I wear them and cannot trust them. I bought 2 packs and returned one. the are lighter and do not hold as much as the old ones. I am driving to all the drug stores to see if they have any of the old packaging.

Never buy again.

Very disappointed in the new Fresh Protection guards. They are no where near as absorbent as the previous product. Combined with the smaller size they just don't offer the same level of protection.
Been using Depend Guards for years. Now have to look for alternatives.

New Fresh Protection Guards Disappoint

This redesign is terrible. I really don't know where to start. I'm 62 and have been incontinent following prostate surgery for 17 years. Depending on my activity, I go through 1-4 pads a day. I know what I'm talking about. It seems like this was designed by people without male urinary biology and tested by people who are not incontinent. The old design had a pouch with ample sides to redirect urine. These have neither, with a very narrow lower part and no sides to redirect urine. I play golf 2-3x per week. The old design would have a "misdirection" leak caused by hip turn maybe twice a year. These did it within 3 holes - not even 10 swings - soaked underwear and wet stain on pants for the rest of the round. Completely unusable for golf. Further, the very narrow glue strips came off in my underwear 3 out of the first 4 times I used these. These are very narrow use pads that I would only trust while working from home. I don't even trust them to sleep in. Very disappointed because I felt Depend was the best and now I have to find another brand.

Worthless Redesign

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the D men's guards for 19 years. I use about 5 or 6 per day depending on my activity. I recently purchased the newly designed pads that are supposed to be more absorbent and improved. I feel the wetness on my body in about an hour and completely wet in two hours starting to leak. These new pads require that I use about 10 pads per day and subject myself to more leakage. Will have to switch to generic products after all these years of using Depends

big issue with water retention lately. On a couple of water pills and they work. Just that I sleep so solid and waking up to pee is not as easy as it was. the pants fit snugly and are comfortable. I slip a couple of Guards in them, and it absorbs quite a bit of water.

thankful for these
