When I needed to replace my Masterbuilt, I looked online to research more powerful units. When I stumbled upon a random review of the Char-Broil 725, my curiosity was piqued. Delving deeper into YouTube and customer reviews... I took a look at specs and overall design. I was impressed. I chose the standard unit (without a glass door panel) even though it was the exact same price. As “cool” as being able to see your food cook is... the gimmicky glass door seemed to me the perfect way to lose heat. This unit from Walmart shipped and received within 7 days. It came in perfect working order and had no dents, dings or scratches. I have been using it almost every other day with phenomenal results each and every time! It truly is a “set it and forget it” device. I would definitely recommend this to any one looking to smoke meats as a beginner or expert backyard pit master! In fact... I may just buy another one for back up and store it for safe keeping. That's how impressive this unit is.....

Purchased a couple weeks ago have completed three smokes. Each one came out great. Best ribs I ever smoked. I had a analogue propane smoker prior to this and always struggled to keep a consistent precise temp, The Char Broil digital electric keeps the temp steady and precise. Incredibly easy to set up and use. Would recommend to friend and family alike!

Wish I had bought one sooner!

Love this product!  Never had a smoker you did not have to baby sit till now! My first meat was a Boston Butt. It was so tender I had trouble getting it off of the rack.  Clean up was a snap.

Excellent smoker! Love the option to smoke according to desired temp of the meat! Just insert built-in thermoter, set your temp, and let the smoking begin!

I use to want to try smoking, but my bride doesn't like the after taste of charcoal and or the remnants of a heavy wood taste. I've used it twice and throughly enjoyed the ease of set up, use and the results.

Char-Broil, LLC

So far, it works well except for one major problem... when using it on the probe thermometer setting, where its supposed to keep the heat on until it reaches its desired temperature, it keeps shutting off prematurely. So I stopped using that setting and only use the time-based setting with a separate probe thermometer that I already had. That works well.

Great, but with one big problem.

Good small smoker but I've owned 2 now and both have the same problems.  The glue oozes out of the door seal with each smoke.  Charbroil sent me a new door but the new door does the same thing.  Also with longer smokes it cuts off way before the temperature is reached.  Annoying.  Have to babysit.

Having used a Char Broil Big Easy smoker for the past 10 years, this unit is huge in comparison.  Likes: size. Cleaning ability, most everything fits in dishwasher. Packaged extremely well. Dislikes: does not smoke as much as prior smoker. Wood chips just kind of smolder, not catch fire. Went for this brand because it has a built in temperature probe. Smoker shuts down before reaching set temperature. Customer service was responsive and professional. Repair parts out of stock, still waiting for arrival. In mean time purchased a separate probe temperature unit for $16. Smoked skin on chicken pieces. Turned out great! Smoked ribs per enclosed recipe. Under cooked. Smoked pork butt per 3-2-1 method. Turned out great pulled pork. Smoked salmon. Turned out great!

I went all in on the smoker. Bought the stand and cover. Stand makes access nice and easy. Looks good too. Bolts used to assemble are tack welded to stand. 2 broke off while hand tightening. Disappointed. Will have to drill holes and replace with hex head bolts/nuts. Cover fits nicely. For the price, would buy again.

I thermostat probe did not work. The timed cook worked good. The lower chip holder did not work, chips did not burn. Returned and bought a Masterbilt.

Disaipointed

Doesn't smoke until the temp is high, which defeats the purpose of having a smoker. Hubby had an electric smoker by MasterBuilt and loved it; only needed to replace that one because a storm blew it off the deck and broke it. This one heats up just doesn't smoke. We didn't need an oven. Will be returning this one and looking for something that starts smoking at a lower temperature. Too bad because he was excited to get this for his birthday.
