Loved finding out what breeds our rescue was. It was east to swab and send in. I had a little trouble getting the app to work initially ti register but customer service was quick ti help! We had so many people ask what he is because he is so unique, and we were curious too. Got our results yesterday. We guessed correctly on the main one but not the others at all.  So fun to finally know. ( American  Bulldog, Lhasa Apso and Chou!)

We recently got a new puppy and weren't sure what breed(s) he was so we purchased the DNA kit and within 2 weeks of the company receiving it we now know what our boy is. Definitely a surprise for part of his genetics but his face definitely shows the main result. We're really glad we did the test for not just us but our vet too.

So glad I got the test!

We adopted a 3 month old puppy from a German Shepherd rescue.  Wonderful erect ears and brindle color. Puppy was rescued from puppy mill in California.  I wanted to find out the details of the breed since no one had any documentation but guessed a German Shepherd mix.  Using this DNA My Dog Essential testing kit, we did the swab and sent sample away.  Surprise results are mix of Husky, Terrier and Chow.  Wow, no one saw that coming but grateful to know.

Great to determine breed for puppy from rescue

this was fast and easy. we love that we don't have to guess about what she now. American Staffordshire terrier and a tiny bit of Staffordshire bull terrier.

Well worth the money!

I purposely gave only age and weight of my dogs. One was AKC registered, so I already knew her breed. I used her as my "control". Her DNA came back 100% accurate. The three dogs that I also tested were unknown, but we suspected certain breeds. One was exactly what we suspected, the other two were surprising. Even though the two were a bit if a surprise, it was confirmed that they are brother and sister. However, they did not share a father.

Save your money for the following reasons: 

The questions they ask of you during the registration portion really had me feeling uneasy about my decision. Any optional question, I did not answer. It wanted to know many things, but among those questions was to list what dog breeds you thought your dog was. Why??? It required weight...why would this be necessary??? I did not upload a photo either. 

Next, I swabbed. It's more like a rough reusable straw cleaning brush and not a large Q-tip. You have to "swab" their cheek for TWENTY SECONDS. What dog is going to let you do this??? I did not need to "swab" this long, because I knew there was a good sample before switching sides as it caused his tissue to bleed. It's way to rough to be used for this purpose! 

Teddy is (now) a 25 lb, 2yr old baby. He is short, long body, short fur with tan plus a black saddle and a little white on his chest. He's a very sweet boy that rarely barks. When I say "rare" I mean he might bark a single "woof" the whole week. He's very laid back, but is game for outside play, walks, etc. He is SUPER submissive. He's the best little rescue dog I've ever had. 

All that to say, he's a good 10 lbs heavier than the breeds listed. He's also not high energy. He's not a barker at all like the smaller breeds can be. And don't even get me started on the fur differences!!!  I can see the coat coloring being similar to the Yorkie, but so do beagles, and they have the boxy nose, too. Where did those ears come from??? They are curled or rosette in style like a greyhound...more likely the Italian grey for size. His long body and short legs, maybe the Lhasa Apso, but most people think he's a dachshund mix. Second guess is a Pit Bull Terrier.  

Needless to say, this was a 100% waste of money and time. I was not only curious about his breed, but wanted to research common health issues for him, too. My very best advice:  Move on! Nothing accurate to see here!

DO NOT BUY!!!

Listed 4 breeds only in my shelter rescue. Did a different one that listed 13 plus so so much more information. Dont buy

Not accurate or thorough

This is 100percent incorrect! Use Embark for proper results! I bought 2 of these tests and 10 from Embark. I thought I'd try it and I'm right back to Embark as these results were incorrect and Embark was spot on and even found relatives.

.y full blooded chihuahua cane back as a terrier mix. sure,anything is possible, but ive seen his parents,litter mates,etc..i was suprised-%26not pleasantly! im not giving the 1 star for the results...it took quite a while to get the results%26i just dont have much faith in their products!
