I have used my hover 3 times now its great suction    easy to empty  but I do feel that the tube  where you hold on to isnt as sturdy as i would like it feels like it will break with some pressure  I hope it won't as ive paid £339.89 for it   but im happy with the suction and movability it has  kind regards Chris owen

Great suction but doesn't feel sturdy

Dyson

Bought this recently due to my old DC04 getting tired (still works) and my V8 cordless runtime is too short and not powerful enough for the dog hairs. It is a great lightweight vacuum and has a good suction. Can't comment on the equipment for stairs as I don't have any. My mother is 87 and she finds it easy to use. However, she is fit and healthy for her age.

Great Vacuum

This is an improved version of a Dyson vacuum cleaner I already own. The 13 AMP plug top is well designed and easy to plug in and, more importantly, easy to pull out. It is a good looking machine, easy to stow with good attention to detail. It is less awkward than previous models, lighter and more manoeuvrable too! It is easier to carry, especially UP stairs. It glides easily in use and is much quieter than older machines. The MAIN, larger general purpose, brush head is contoured with the sharp, square corners removed, good for damage limitation to chair legs act. The brush head has very good suction, much more than earlier types and makes the Pet Hair head less needed. The machine does NOT tip over in use going around furniture and the attachment fixings are much improved. Less effort is required to fit or remove these and they do not stick fast as previous parts tended to. Overall, a much improved vacuum cleaner with good suction and dust collection. The tools are many, enough to cover all uses I think. The only item that 'LOOKS' awkward is the on/off and flex recoil switches/activators. They 'LOOK' like they are vulnerable and likely to be snapped off with the flex if it hooks up on them? The previous model had; smooth, sculptured actuators that were impossible to hook up on. I have no experience of 'hook-up' but it looks likely? One task that has definite improvement is the removal and refitting of the dust collector. This now has a smooth and simple action that is not difficult to figure out.

I am aware that this is not relevant to this test but I feel it needs to be said! 

This is the fourth Dyson vacuum cleaner that I have owned. Each one has been long lasting and an improvement on the last and each one has proved to be a good quality, well supported product that has fulfilled the purpose it was designed and purchased for.

This one is lighter and smoother to use than all the others and appears to be a better product in many ways, some might not be obvious but they are there.

The machine is a new model

I bought this 3 or 4 months ago and it's heavier than the dc40 animal exclusive What I had before. Although it's much more powerful and quieter and the wand is so easy to use and the attachments and hose don't always pop out now (they all click into place). Had loads of dyson uprights over the years and this is a very good one x

Dyson ball animal 2

Dyson you have surpassed all expectations, I already own the DC25 animal which I love, I thought this was the best until I used the animal 2. The amount of extra dust, hairs and fluff that has been sucked out of the carpet is outstanding. The suction brings the carpets up as new, looks and feels like they have been deep cleaned. The motor is quiet and I like how the ball self adjusts to the level of the carpets. 5 stars from me, every home should own one.

Great machine

I had this for a couple of months and I'm still amazed at the cleaning power of this machine, it really removes so much grit and dog hairs from the carpets and furniture. On the day that I got the Dyson Ball Animal 2 I had already vacuumed the house with my old Dyson 33 but of course I had to give my nice new machine a test drive, I had always thought that my Dyson 33 had been good at cleaning so was surprised when after just doing the ground floor I had nearly filled the cylinder. Next I tried the tools and again was amazed at the ease of use and efficiency I really like the way that the hose pivots, it makes cleaning up high and under furniture so much easier and the length of the electric flex means I can clean the whole of the ground floor without having to change plugs. The turbo tool makes cleaning the stairs quick and easy, it is also great for cleaning the car seats. And the tool that lays flat means cleaning under beds and units is perfect.

I have been truly amazed at the cleaning power of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and would highly recommend it to any one with dogs or other pets.

First thing I noticed was how quiet the motor was compared to my DC33 model, I liked everything about the animal 2 from the tilt and rotate of the wand handle, the extra turbine tools for stairs and getting under tables chairs etc deep suction on carpets. With the Ball its good for getting round furniture and in to tight spaces, I also liked how you could press a button to turn off the bristles when doing hard floors, I gave only 4 stars because the ball was hard to manoeuver on carpets. But all in all this is a good and versatile product that I would definitely recommend.

Dyson Ball Animal 2

I bought this vacuum last year and have enjoyed using it with minimal fuss. However, one design flaw is that ever time I empty the cylinder I have to clean out the input connect between the housing and the hose end. This restricted part of the system continually gets blocked with dog hair and causes loss of suction. Apart from this design flaw the vacuum works effectively. Good vacuum, poor design flaw

Over all a good machine however I have listed below my opinion of the positives and negatives for this model.

Positives:

Very good suction/Good length on wand/Roller ball on handle top makes manoeuvring easier/Removal and empting of bin is very straight forward and effective/Better quality filters than previous model/Design of accessory holder much better than previous model, clip hold is a great idea/ Good balance when moving cylinder across the floor/Overall carrying weight of machine is light in comparison to the power of the machine/Product is compact and neat for storage.

Negatives:

Brush bar head is to small, I preferred the size used in previous model/Cylinder does not move freely when on a carpeted floor, I feel you need to use to much force to move it around the floor/When machine is in the storage position the carrying handle is obstructed by the wand/When using the large suction control cleaning head I find the head very hard to manoeuvre around the floor. Even when I reduced the suction on the cleaner head I found it quite difficult to manoeuvre around and under furniture. I found the force required to manoeuvre this head made my wrists sore after a short spell of use. Perhaps when using this head a ball movement between the wand and cleaner head would improve its mobility. I found using this tool very cumbersome./Length of electric cable is bit on the short side especially when cleaning hall, stair and landing areas.



Overall I found this model to be of good quality and most of the modifications have made an improvement on the previous model. However I am a bit disappointed with the large cleaner heads ease of use and the cylinders ability to move freely on carpet.



I would definatley recommend this hoover to pet owners as the suction is excellent

My Experience as a tester

I have used this cleaner for 2 years now and it is the most annoying product I have had. I have used many dysons before. The weight is good. The tools are good. The extension hose great to get to my tall ceilings. But the product blocks with fluff and dusty after nearly every use. I spend more time with it on its side than upright. Even took it to a dyson repair shop for a clean out. A big weakness in what should have been a good machine
