This is my hands-down favorite mascara. I don't have any of the flaking or smudging that other reviewers mentioned. Although it doesn't say so on the packaging, this is a tubing mascara. The formula goes on pretty wet and forms little "tubes" around each lash making them look longer and thicker. The tubes can only be removed by rubbing or gently pulling them off with WARM water. Tubing mascaras aren't technically waterproof but they do take a bit of work to get off. The tubes look a bit like lashes when they come off so don't be alarmed. I live in Florida and I can jump in the pool or get hot and sweaty and not have this mascara run. I also like to keep my undereye area pretty moisturized and this mascara doesn't run like traditional mascara would.

I always use this as my first coat so that I could lengthen my lashes and then use a volumizing mascara over it. I have short lashes and I don't like using a curler and the wand lengthens them out perfectly that I don't need to curl them or anything. I love this product and would definitely repurchase in the future.

This is a handy little gem for those who like their lashes to look natural, yet separated, defined and beautiful. For women who appreciate dramatically long lashes, this may not be the product for you, unless maybe you use a primer first, and then apply several coats of this mascara.

I gave this 4.5 stars instead of 5, because I've used other drugstore brands that provided a bit more length and volume. However, it's important to point out that everyone is different: if you have thin eyelashes and a delicate bone structure, this mascara will be perfect or maybe even a bit too much for your taste. For women with thicker, longer lashes, this won't be heavily impressive.

I've noticed that mascara seems to be the one product that is hit or miss with everyone, and can very wildly from person to person. That's a bit odd, but because it's so subjective, it's really difficult to write a proper mascara review.

I'd also like to point out that this brush is AMAZING. I wish most mascaras provided this brush, because it offers that perfect balance between long, defined lashes and Tammy Faye Bakker (God, I miss that woman).

Oh yeah, and before I forget, the texture! I wouldn't believe this if I didn't see it for myself, but this particular mascara is smack dab in the middle between wet and dry. How phenomenal! I've never, ever really seen that before.

In fact, when I first examined it, I stood there in wonder, twirling the mascara brush around, trying to figure out where the liquid stood on the spectrum. How perfect. Truly.

Great Steal for the $$$$

Super happy with this. Not sure if I just got a good tube, but it is so comfortable on my eyes which are usually super sensitive. Applicator is amazing, and for anyone who is having issues getting it off, I literally just use wam water and gently rub my lashes between my fingers, it rolls right off for me! Then I just wash my face as usual :)

Only complaint- wish it came in brown!

i bought this on friday at target along with MANY other elf things, but this product was amazing! it coats EVERY lash! its better than clinique lots of lashes! i would rate it 5 but it doesn't have a ton of mascara inside. but other than that i LOVED it will buy again! great for the price!

does what it says!

This is a tubing mascara.  Once I realized that and what a tubing mascara is (google it), I went from hating to liking it.  A tubing mascara coats your entire lash with a polymer type of material vs. waxy like traditional mascara.  It's very gentle on your lashes and it's pretty much water resistant.  It does take a bit to dry but that is normal for a tubing mascara.  Once it sets it does not move.  BUT, no make up remover is needed, just use a lot of very warm water and the tubes will swell up and fall off like little eyelash socks.  This type of mascara is good for people with sensitive or watery eyes.  It does not smudge or flake at all.  It gives very good length.  If you want volume as well, I believe it works best with the mascara primer (now back in stock!  yay!).  The only negative I have, now that I've got this stuff figured out, is that if I put it on both the top and bottom lashes they stick.  But I normally don't go for mascara on the bottom except special occasions so me me, I'm fine with it.  This is really a great value for a tubing mascara.

Tubing Mascara

I used to be so obsessed with this mascara! :( I have used it loyally for at least 5 or 6 years; replacing my mascara once a month. I was asked all of the time which mascara I used (I have naturally long lashes) and I got tons of friends hooked to this mascara as well. HOWEVER, they recently changed the formula and it's as if it's a completely different mascara...and not in a good way. The new formula is tarry-sticky and never completely dries. So what happens is your top and bottom lashes stick together kind of sealing the side of your eye shut. Additionally, the rest of the eyelashes stick together in clumps as well and it's impossible to separate them because it's like a glue consistency. I honestly can't use it anymore and it breaks my heart! The previous formula was amazing...it dried normally and never flaked, smudged, or ran down your face when it got wet. In fact, I could wear the mascara for 3 days straight and it would look the same as the first day (with a few lashes that lost the mascara). It was the best mascara to use when swimming because it just came off in tubes and didn't run down your face. I have never written a review on anything, but I am on this because I'm so sad and I'm praying that Elf will bring back the old formula! Elf, if you have any of the old formula left, please let me know, and I will buy a bunch!

I have used several different brands / types of mascaras, and I think this is the worst one I have tried. After applying in the morning, the mascara is still tacky feeling through out the day. Blinking, sneezing, whatever you do with your eyes, leaves lash prints/smudges under the eyes. I threw it away. I don't have any use for products that don't work for me.

Feeling Tacky

been using this for 6 months. got pink eye so i had to toss it and get a new one which supposedly has a new formula

it clumps so bad, takes about a half an hour to dry, and when i tried removing it at the end of the day, it took off a few of my lashes. 

what did you guys do to the formula? this used to be my go-to but ya'll dumpstered it

by far worst mascara i have ever used in my entire life. glues your eyelashes together in one big clump. every time i blink my top and bottom eyelashes get stuck together, and thats just with ONE coat. absolutely toxic does nothing for my eyelashes. going straight in the trash
