Description & Features+

"Long Road Out of Eden" is crafted to evoke the spirit and feel of the Eagles' biggest hits. Nearly every one of their classic rock radio staples has a doppelgänger here, as the J.D. Souther-written "How Long" recalls "Take It Easy," the stiff funk of "Frail Grasp on the Big Picture" echoes back to the clenched riffs of "Life in the Fast Lane," and while perhaps these aren't exact replicas, there's no denying it's possible to hear echoes of everything from "Lyin' Eyes" and "Desperado" to "Life in the Fast Lane," and Timothy B. Schmit turns Paul Carrack's "I Don't Want to Hear Anymore" into a soft rock gem to stand alongside his own "I Can't Tell You Why." The two discs do fit together well, as they wind up touching upon all of the band's different eras, from the early days to their solo hits. It's designed to please those fans who have been happy to hear the same songs over and over again -- listeners who want new songs that feel old, but not stale. That's precisely what "Long Road Out of Eden" provides, as it's an album meticulously crafted to fit within the band's legacy without tarnishing it. - by Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Burn all your Hip Hop and Rap CDs, because the Eagles have produced a new collection of songs that prove just how enduring their music really is. The same wonderful solos, guitar riffs, and in-your face lyrics that made this timeless group famous are back on this dynamite new CD. Joe Walsh, with his quirky, humorous personality and unparalleled musical genius joins longtime Eagles regulars Don Henley, Glenn Frye, and Timothy B. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eagles not what they were I was disappointed in this Eagle's CD. It is easy listening, however there is not a single song I am crazy about. The music is good, but the lyrics seem forced and at times trite. I was impressed that there were so many songs on this single CD...but quantity does not equal quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eagles Soar This album was very topical. It mostly pertains to love lost or regained, but touches on the issues surrounding us today...war, poverty... I like the album very much because it allows every member of the band to say what they have to say.
