The sharpening wheels on your Edge Pro Compact Electric Knife Sharpener are made from bonded synthetics. The synthetics used are selected for their ability to guarantee longer wheel life, uniform cutting, and minimum heat build up, so that de-tempering of your blade does not occur. Our wheels are manufactured according to strict tolerances in order to ensure the same high quality on each and every wheel that we make.The crossed ceramic rods put the final finished edge on your blade. Crossed ceramic rods create a fixed sharpening angle that lightly hones both sides of your blade at the same time; thus, putting a polished, razor-sharp cutting edge on your knife. Also, the crossed ceramic rods are excellent for giving already sharp knives a a quick touch-up before use. Just a few, quick pulls through the sharpening slot is all it takes. SMITH'S EDGE PRO COMPACT ELECTRIC KNIFE SHARPENER

I love this sharpener. I use it at least twice a week. I don't like the angle of the grinding slots but once you get accustomed it is fine. I like the fact that I can remove the serrated part of knives that I use since I don't like blades with them but most of the knives that I see and want to buy have them. That just me though. This sharpener makes quick work of reshaping a horribly dull blade and it has the fine edged finishing slot to use afterward. This Item is extremely useful and practical. I don't have to tire my arms out manually sharpening from start to finish.  I recommend getting this if you want to save time and effort. It was worth every penny.

Practical and Useful

I wondered if I could do the tip and the part of the blade closest to the pivot so I inquired on their web site. I got a call from a man in Arkansas almost immediately yet it was about 5 pm there!
He was very helpful, even tho I wasn't buying it directly.
I have only used it once so far and it seems to be fine. I put it in the kitchen for further use there.

Bought for pocket knife

Sharpens a knife really well and easy to use for anyone very nice product!

Definitely worth the money

I enjoy chopping vegetables again. This product is well priced and arrived quickly.

Easy to use and effective.

I had better expectations for this product, but the problem in a nutshell is the motor just isn't sufficient.
Even with slight pressure the grinding wheel just grinds to a halt. Granted one must use as little pressure as possible when guiding the knife blade through any motorized grinding wheels or surfaces, but it just doesn't have the power to be practical.

I'd give this product one star, but the ceramic pull through rods work decent enough. This product now sits in a special silver and black storage container where I store all my prized possessions, while I'm now back to using my 12" sharpening steel and soft and hard Arkansas stones for a really good edge.

Just doesn't cut it

The Good, Ordering online line was easy, shipping times were about average from other online line retailers.
The Bad, the sharping stone was out of balance, the sharpening surface had thickness variation, the stone would only contact the knife edge about 30% per rotation making for a near blade destroying experience. The weak motor, and the separate power cord (thin gauge, low amps) screams junk. This sharpener screams Groupon quailty. Cant be bothered to return item due to the box was throw out, and don't want to deal with a online purchase return. Do...Not...Buy.
