Shortens healing time and duration of cold sore symptoms including pain, burning, itching and tingling. Treats cold sores on the face or lips. Docosanol helps block entry of the cold sore virus into surrounding cells, thereby helping to treat cold sores. Product Facts: Active ingredient (w/w): Docosanol, 10% Purpose: Cold sore, fever blister treatment Uses: Treatment of cold sores fever blisters on the face or lips. Shortens healing time and duration of these symptoms: pain burning tingling itching. Warnings: For external use only. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. When using this product do not use in or near the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water apply only to affected areas on the lips and face. Avoid applying directly inside your mouth. Do not share this product with anyone, this may spread infection. Stop use and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms get worse or last more than 10 days excessive skin irritation develops or increases. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, call a Poison Control Centre or get medical help right away. Directions: Adults and children 12 years and older: wash hands before and after applying cream. Apply to the affected area on face or lips at the first sign of symptoms rub in gently but completely repeat this 5 times per day until fully healed, up to a maximum of 10 days do not use more than directed. Other information: Store between 15 °C - 25 °C. Do not freeze. Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Inactive ingredients: Benzyl alcohol, light mineral oil, propylene glycol, sucrose distearate, sucrose stearate, water.

The texture of this cream is great, not sticky at all. I applied it as soon as I felt the tingling that tells me a cold sore is close to erupting. It kept the emerging sore small. Typically my sores would get to be up to 2.5cm in diameter and last up to 2 weeks. This cream kept it to 3mm. It also healed up and the scab was gone after 4 days.

Recentry bought the Equate brand of this medicine for the first time. I found it works every bit as well as the Nationl brand at a fraction of the cost

Every Bit As Good As The Brand Name Version For M

I bought the Equate brand because its price is half that of the brand name equivalent. I went through the ingredient list and it's identical to that of the other and better known brand. This one works well!

It works as well as brand name product

I am currently using it now and it is working just as well as the stuff that cost nearly 10.00 more.  Give it a try next time and see for yourself. Save a little money.

Works just like the expensive stuff!

I purchased this for my primary aged child.  It was already a fully developed sore and once we applied this cream it quickly went away. He also said it relieved his discomfort.

Works Just As Good As Brands We Won't Mention

As a pharmacist, I love using the Equate brand of docosanol cream as it works as good as the name brand Abreva, but costs alot less! 
I'm always looking for ways to save money, but only if the product is effective.  I can attest that Equate's brand is as effective!

As good as brand name!

Used this product when I first felt the tingle is a cold sore coming on and it helped reduce the duration and severity of cold sore. It works just as well as other brand name products. I will be using this again

Great cold sore medication

I often get cold sores in the summer and this cream does the trick. It prevents the cold sores from getting worse and also speeds up healing.  It is tasteless and very effective. I keep one in my golf bag too!

Just as good as brand name

Myself had a cold sore and this equate cold sore cream starting working almost immediately. Highly recommend this product

Works great

Instead of buying @brev@, I purchased Walmart's private label version. They both have the same main ingredient so I figured since it was about $4 less, what was the harm in trying it? I found it works for me the same was as the branded. I never use the entire tube before it expires so I don't feel as bad of disposing of it and I would have with the more expensive version.
