Description & Features+

The legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is receives its most impressive screen treatment in Excalibur, from visionary moviemaker John Boorman ("Deliverance", "The General"). All the elements of Sir Thomas Malory's classic Le Morte Darthur are here: Arthur (Nigel Terry) removing the sword Excalibur from the stone; the Round Table's noble birth and tragic decline; the heroic attempts to recover the Holy Grail; and the shifting balance of power between wily wizard Merlin (Nicol Williamson) and evil sorceress Morgana (Helen Mirren). With Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne and liam Neeson in notable early screen roles, Excalibur serves up, The New Yorker's Pauline Kael wrote, "one lush, enraptured scene after another".

Ratings & Reviews+

Excalibur is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excalibur Best version of the King Authur legend I've seen and I've seen them all including the 1920's silent versions. Faithful in the story telling, especially in telling Merlin's and Morganna's parts in the legend, all and all awesomely done especially considering it's was before cgi took over story telling. Visually compelling, the casting superb, the english used totally understandable. I highly recommend it to all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Romance, danger and Drama. Julia Ormond is promised to marry King Arthur, but Lancelot finds her heart. How will she love two men? Some swordplay, drama with a love story. Watch this movie with your mate. Try it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My family completely enjoyed this movie. The only bad thing I can say is I wished it came in Blu-Ray. At least wide frame.
