I have had a gazelle before many years ago and it is perfect Because I have arthritis and fibromyalgia the eliptical componant is perfect because there is no stress or strain on the body The arthritus is in my ankles and I feel no pain when using this machine unlike when I try to walk There are vidies that come with this machine that teach you many ways to use it From beginer a person who is completely out of shape to a person who is totally fit this machine has something for everyone It is easy to use and folds up so you can put it away when not using

I had a gazelle in the past and really enjoyed using it but gave it to my daughter. For the past year I have had a pinched nerve in my back which caused a lot of pain and made it difficult to walk or even sit for extended periods. I so needed to be able to exercise and decided to buy a new one. I am up to an hour a day on my gazelle and my pain has almost disappeared. So glad I bought my new gazelle.

I bought this after using my friends Gazelle Edge for over a year. I have a family member who is quite heavy, so I had to get the Gazelle Freestyle instead of the Gazelle Edge as the weight limit is higher. Despite the fact that my friends had put together 2 Gazelle Edge's (one for themselves & one for a family member) it still took us over 2 hours for three of us to put it together. Things don't line up easily during installation; they knew how to do and it still took us over 2 hours; it was still better than paying some one to put it together. That being said, the Gazelle Freestyle is even better than the Gazelle Edge! My friends who helped me agree: The Freestyle is more smooth operating; it doesn't squeak at all, like the Gazelle Edge; now my friends wish they had bought the Freestyle instead of another Edge! The Edge feels stable when I use it, but the Freestyle feels even more stable. It also has the computer that informs you of your progress, which is a great bonus. Both do fold up; my friends leave theirs out so don't fold theirs up; I have to fold mine as I have less room; this is not an easy task for one person, but it's not impossible either; it's worth it as the more you fold it up and put it against a wall, the more you get the hang of the easiest way for you to do it; it's still not quite easy, yet it's easy enough that I do fold it up daily. I love being able to use it in my own home; it's great to use while listening to music, talk radio or even watching tv - really! Once you have the hang of how to use it, which doesn't take long at all, it's quite easy to do all the above while on the Gazelle; however, I wouldn't recommend trying to read a book while doing it. I use it in my home, rain or shine, hot or cold outside, daylight or after dark. It's the best money I've spent on exercising! In the past I joined a gym that is located less than a mile from my house; it was still not convenient like it is to exercise at home; a gym membership did me no good if I didn't go routinely. In the past, I had an expensive treadmill that folded up; it was so cumbersome and loud that after using it for several years, I gave it away. I prefer the Gazelle to a treadmill as it's so much easier on my knees and so quiet! When I got up before everyone else to use the treadmill, it woke up everyone else in the house. I use the Gazelle Freestyle and no one wakes up - it's that wonderfully quiet! My Advice: forget the gym, forget a treadmill; get the Gazelle Freestyle and supplement it with exercises that you can do without equipment. You will be much more likely to exercise in your home and you will save a lot of money!

Great Machine: Challenging To Put Together!

Received machine quickly after ordering. The set up was ok it did take some time. The first 15 minutes on the machine it started squeaking as if it were a few years of heavy use old. Disappointed I tried again the next day. Still squeaking, I would think out of box brand new it wouldn't squeak this much as my older model was much more durable and didn't act up u til much later after use. Any way I used a small hex wrench and took apart the moving mounts and lubed all parts with lithium grease. Works well and excited to move forward with a solid routine of cardio and weight training.  If you experience the same thing YouTube has very descriptive videos.

I'm in my 50's, and I've put on a bunch of weight, and it needs to come off. Unfortunately I'm not getting the exercise I used to, I work at home, and I hate going to the gym. My sister got a Gazelle about a year ago, and she thought it was great. After looking at other home exercise equipment, I thought I'd give it a try. It doesn't eat electricity, it's low impact, the machine won't take up much space, and it won't cost me a lot. The free shipping was also attractive. It was not hard to put together. It feels very solid, so when I want to go fast I don't worry about it collapsing. I parked it in front of my tv, and started gliding. Since I work at home, I can hop on every couple of hours for a while to get the blood flowing again. My muscle tone is coming back, so I'm pretty happy. If you want to turn some of your tv time into exercise time, this is the one for you.

Better than I'd hoped for.

In theory it is easy to assemble. I made a mistake - put it together without paying attention to where the tension cords were - so I had to take it apart and re-do it. Cursing helped this process along. It's quiet and there is no impact which is great. My knees feel a little tight (a little pressure) when I'm using it, but my hip/leg joint that has been acting up actually feels a lot better. Lots of angles you can work from. Folds up too. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the folding up. Those pedals fall back down and pummel whatever is in the way. I need to store it upright so I use a bungee cord around the pedals to keep them from moving. Wish there was a way to lock the handlebars in place while folding it. Otherwise, I like it.

good machine

I've only had the Gazelle Freestyle for a few days, so please take that into consideration when reading this review.

So far the Freestyle seems surprisingly durable. I like that it came with two DVDs and I LOVE how quiet it is. The only reason I gave it a "Good" rating is because I haven't had it long enough to tell you if it will produce results or not. So far I've found that the DVD workout feels like a good workout if I TRY HARD ENOUGH. The first time I guess I didn't, because I hardly sweat and I didn't feel like I did anything - but the second time I exercised harder, faster, and got a pretty good sweat. I plan to increase my effort to hopefully increase the effectiveness of working out on this machine.

The Freestyle folds up nicely and although it's a little difficult for me to move it around easily, I like how compact it is when folded up for storage. So far, so good - after three days, I feel like I'm still excited about the Freestyle. P.S. it shipped super fast!

Great (so far)

The instructions that come with this thing are very horrible. Had to take apart several times to get it right. The foot platforms should have been made out of rubber cause the heels of my feet kept sliding inwards off the step and I have to stop to readjust my feet. I had to go buy slip resistant sneakers to wear on this thing. Once all together, I do like using it, it's narrow so it doesn't take up to much room.

it's ok

This is our second Gazelle. Only two issues with this one - 1) The frame seems to be 'sprung'. After assembly the unit rocked and the only way to stop the rock was to place a 1/4" board under the right rear, 2) The computer directions indicate there is a switch to change between kilometers and miles....no switch. Other than that.... okay.

Okay

I bought the bigger gazelle for the extra 50lb weight limit. But man I do regret it. Once we put it together this thing is huge. There is no way for me to collapse and store under a bed or couch or closet. I cannot even lift and move it on my own. I wish I had bought the smaller one now. I don't even want to bother returning it because it is so large and was a pain to build let alone dismantle and repack to send back! What a headache. I personally do not recommend the bigger one. I more than likely will just sell it and buy another piece of exercise equipment.
