Description & Features+
Gerry Boulet and his brother Denis form the band Offenbach. Later, Gerry meets filmmaker and poet Pierre Harel, who foresees great things for the band. His energy gives Offenbach renewed inspiration. French filmmaker Claude Faraldo invites them to stay in a manor in France, where the musicians will live in front of the camera for two years. Back in Quebec, the band immediately breaks up, and Gerry then recruits Breen LeBoeuf and John McGale. The new Offenbach throws itself recklessly into touring and wild nights, and becomes the first band from Quebec to put on a concert at the Montreal Forum. A few years later, Gerry breaks the band up, determined to go solo. Although Gerry is then diagnosed with cancer, he still undertakes his “Rendez-vous doux” tour, his solo album. Little by little he abandons his resolutions and takes up his old habits of alcohol, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll. Gerry Boulet dies of cancer in 1990, at the age of 44.
