Ratings & Reviews+

Gold's gym XR 5.9 is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 564.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall, not a bad bench for $50. Pros: 1) low cost. 2) light weight and easy to move around. Cons: 1) The hinge that the backrest pivots on is exposed when the backrest is in the full decline position. If you are doing situps, you have to put a towel over the hinge to keep it from digging in to your back. 2) Weight restrictions keep you from lifting heavy weights. 3) The seat pad is at an odd incline and you cannot adjust it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bench for the price I'm 6'2'' and 250lbs and the bench works well for incline, decline etc. - I generally use it for dumbell work and it does just fine - easy to assemble. Only complaint is that for a guy my size the leg rollers are too close together and a little narrow. Also when you want to use it in the flat position the angled seat can be sort of a pain but nothing that can't be worked around...other than than it is a great bench for the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Depends on size of user For big guys like myself, the bench is almost too small. Not quite too small, but almost. The padding for the legs aren't long enough so my legs are often half on and half off of the begs which causes the plastic end caps to dig into the back of my knees which hurts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A poorly built product that's not safe to use The bench broke after about 5 months of light use (about once a week). When I was doing sit up on it, the metal plate connecting the two vertical bars broke and the bench fell apart. My back was hurt a bit. I was lucky that I was not lifting weight when it happened, which would have resulted in serious bodily injury. I called Gold's Gym customer service and they said the product only has 90-day warranty, so they could offer no refund or replacement. If customers got hurt using their products, they could work out with their legal department though. I guess even they know their products are not built to last. For 50$ I didn't expect superior quality. I could bear with the shaking of the bench during workout. But falling apart likes that has me concerned about the safety of this brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sturdy bench at an affordable price This is a great adjustable workout bench. The back can be fully adjusted to various angles, although it requires some effort to do so. Also, this is a decline bench and so the seat is non-adjustable and is fixed at an angle. I use this bench for working out my abs, triceps and lats. This bench serves the purpose very well and the build quality of this product is very good for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice option for the money Used in place of going to the gym. It's surprisingly sturdy for how light it is. Four stars overall because the seat portion of the bench is at a slight angle instead of being flat. It makes it somewhat awkward for chest exercises when the bench is flat or in the decline position. Nice low-priced option to most benches.
