Rated 3 out of 5 by from doesn't seem necessary There are several positive aspects to this little machine, but offhand I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who can make egg burritos on their stove. If you live in a dorm or a small hotel/apartment room, then it might be useful, but otherwise it really isn't worth the money. Fortunately, I am reviewing this for the Walmart Sparks review program so I found this out without having to spend any money and send it back. First of all, there are some positives to this machine; it is tiny and doesn't take much counter or shelf space up, all to the good if you lack a lot of room in whatever passes for your kitchen. As I said, maybe a dorm room. Secondly, it's easy to take apart and clean. The main piece of the unit slips out of the cooking unit easily and can be washed without fear of damaging the electrical components. When clean, the piece just slips into the slots at the back of the machine. I (and the manufacturer) recommend unplugging the unit before removing it. Thirdly, the instructions were clear and done with pictures. Even I understood them and I usually do better with YouTube Instructions! Finally, there is a timer that lets you set the unit and it will shut off automatically. Fortunately, if the egg isn't quite done, the timer can be reset. Unfortunately, that's all of the positive things I can say about it. If you are in a hurry in the morning and you want a breakfast burrito, it would be better to whip up some eggs, put them in the microwave and then wrap the eggs in the burrito yourself. This machine must be warmed up first and that has taken about 4 minutes, by my calculations. True, you can be mixing the ingredients for your burrito during that time, but the holding container for the eggs is so small that it doesn't take any time to beat the eggs, because it only holds one. There are recipes in the instruction booklet and they are good, but once again, they're time consuming. If a change is made in the recipe and more egg mixture is used than the recipe calls for, there is an overflow that results in a mess. That's the only time that the unit becomes difficult to clean because the overflow falls into a small crack around the egg receptacle and the only way to clean it is by sliding a narrow object into the crack. Perhaps if I put it in a dishwasher, I wouldn't have had the problem, but since I don't have one, I had to clean it the old-fashioned way. So far, I've fixed four burrito/omelets in the machine. Please don't fill the egg container to the top because if you do, you will end up cleaning the crevices (see above). The unit takes one egg and small portions of veggies or meat and when not overfilled takes about six to seven minutes to cook. The next thing I have a problem with was the part of the machine for the tortilla. You have to use a six inch tortilla because the holding section plate for that is only six inches. Unfortunately, when the egg mixture is done and you release it to the tortilla shell, the shell can't be wrapped around it because the egg filling has puffed up (which is why you can't fill the container to the top). All in all, I don't know that I would recommend this to anyone other than someone who doesn't have room for a microwave. It's a good idea and well-executed, but really not very practical. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great breakfast appliance for one or two people I received this Hamilton Beach Breakfast Burrito Maker from the Walmart Spark Reviewer program free for doing a review. Now, my wife is not normally a fan of kitchen appliances that are only designed to do one thing because we have limited cabinet and counter space in our apartment's kitchen. However, this looked like a really good idea, so we thought we would give it a try. And we have found that the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Burrito Maker was designed to cook burritos, but it can do so much more. Stuffed pancakes, omelets, crepes, even personal pizzas are possible. So far, we have used it only for breakfast burritos, and it works wonderfully well. It is very easy to use, and it does all the cooking for you in as little as 5 minutes. It comes with two layers of cooking surfaces: a lower layer for heating the tortilla and an upper one for the filling. In the middle is a removable set of rings and a separator plate. The timer goes up to 5 minutes, and a loud audible tone alerts you when it is done. Once the filling is done, simply pull out the separator plate to have the filling fall straight onto the tortilla, lift the lower ring and move the whole thing onto your plate with a spatula. Then just fold your hot, fresh morning burrito. Cleanup is easy, since all of the cooking surfaces are nonstick and all removable parts are top rack dishwasher safe. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neat small appliance If you like burritos or small sandwiches for breakfast or snacks, this is for you! It is a small appliance that holds a small tortilla in the bottom. Flip down the tray that has an oval "dish" on top of it and pour in an egg, chicken, chopped peppers, onions, cheese, etc. You can set the timer for up to ten minutes, but the tortlla will be toasted and brittle. You would need to add it closer to the end of the cycle. There is no temperature gauge just a green light that cycles on and off to keep it at the factory set temperature. It is easy to clean. The interior can be removed and placed in the dish washer. I found that an easy wipe down is all that was needed. It is also suggested that you spray or wipe oil onto the surfaces before use even though the surfaces are nonstick. Unplug the unit when finished. Limitless ways to use this! Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good machine to have around for breakfast time. i was very happy with machine it is not to big that a person does not want to leave it on the counter all the time were it is easy to get at and use all the time. i myself do not care for breakfast burrios but i have used it many times now for makeing yhe two egg omelettes and it makes them very well i have made them with cooked bacon and cooked sausages and other items and each time it prepared them very well. i have had the grandkids over and made them the breakfast burritos they loved them they could put anything they liked in them and as far as they were concerned they came out as good or better than the ones they get at the fast food places this was mainly because they could put what they liked in them. i personally like the clean up in that it is a quick and easy with the no stick. it is very handy haveing all the recipes right in the book i still want to try the stuffed pancakes and the pizza. so over all me and the kids say this machine is a big hit in are home try it in yours.
