Hamilton Beach Durathon Digital Iron with Retractable Cord is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just got it and man does it work! Rowenta just died thank god. I hated it. I just got this iron and my wife says I ironed my clothes faster than ever. Must be the 1700 watts!!! Seems like a really good iron. I'll find out because I Iron my shirts and press my pants every day for work. I probably should have ordered the grey version rather than purple (I am a 60 year old male), but heck, I am just glad it works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great iron at a reasonable price We've gone through multiple irons looking for the right amount of steam, no leaking and a retractable cord that actually retracts. This is it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard item to review This has been a bad year for me iron-wise. I iron a LOT! My favorite iron was discontinued and I have bought 4 irons this year and none of them compare to my old one and am still not satisfied. I am sure everyone likes to be the best at something but why oh why do I have to be so good at ironing! I have gone on strike and sent everything out to be ironed, but after seeing what the cleaners do to the clothes, break buttons, iron in creases that aren't meant to be there, etc... I always go back to doing it myself. I probably iron things no one would bother with, but I like the look of sharp creases in sleeves and pants and generally think ironed clothes just have a better look. This iron has pros and cons, so just decide what is important to you. Pros: Heavy, (light irons take more work to achieve a good press) almost too heavy, great steam and big water well so does not have to refilled as often, easy to see water level, self cleaning Cons: not a fan of digital control setting, a dial is quicker, not a fan of retractable cord, sounds good but be sure to hold it as you press the rewind button or it will flip up and hit you, also in my experience this feature never lasts long. I wish that rating option of I would recommend to a friend had a "maybe" option as I don't really feel yes or no covers it. I am pickier than most about irons. I will probably keep using it until I find one I like better, I do think it puts a sharper crease in shorts and pants than my usual one. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall great iron. I bought this iron to replace my panasonic retractable cord iron. I really like that feature as I hate dealing with messy cords for storage. I bought the Tfal easy glide that was 20 dollars more and then found this iron. Both had great reviews. The Tfal did not have a retractable cord. This iron is larger in length due to the cord storage compartment, but plate size is similar. Side by side testing, they heated up equally fast, both leaked a little on full steam settings with a max fill of water. The Tfal leaked much more. If you iron your board for a moment when it first heats up..you won't wet your garment. The Hamilton beach iron took the wrinkles out of a heavy 100% cotton shirt with fewer passes. When I hung up the shirt to examine both sides the Hamilton beach side was crisper and smoother...when I went over the other side just at the bottom to see if it would remove wrinkles the Tfal left behind, it did easily with one pass. The Tfal is lighter, but unless you do marathon ironing the difference is negligible. It takes half the time to iron a shirt with this HB iron. I'll take the extra weight for that bonus. The cord retracts easily and rapidly..it needs a little feed at the end but I think that just prevents it from snapping up against you hand when you push the button. I would recommend this iron with confidence. Idk why all irons don't come with cord storage. I only wish it came with a spouted cup for filling like my Panasonic iron did

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Little Steamy Ironing each week is my favorite job, NOT! I really don’t know many people who actually enjoying ironing, but I am sure there are some out there. After using a 20 plus year old iron this new iron came at the perfect time. This is a very nice iron; visually it is very pretty purple. The 12 features are great. I like the light up on/off and level selection view. The settings synthetic, silk, wool, cotton and linen are ideal so you are not getting the iron too hot for some fabrics causing burns or damage. The Steam is very steamy so don’t get burned. You can use tap water or distilled water in this iron. You can spray or steam, your choice. With the Durathon nonstick soleplate this iron literally glides making your ironing task a little faster. I had no idea what I was missing. This also features auto shut off for those times you may get called away by a screaming child or phone call. The best feature in my opinion is the retractable cord, no more messy and kinked cords, be careful though it retracts very fast. I do need to mention the only negative I found with this is that it is so big. At first I thought I was going to need to use two hands to use this. Although this is a large iron I felt it worked great and the steam features were awesome. If they could make this a little smaller it would be perfect [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
