Ratings & Reviews+

Hamilton Beach Keep Warm 2-Slice Toaster, Stainless Steel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Let down Was initially very encouraged and wanted to love this toaster because it toasted bread evenly, but the darkness setting dial doesn't work at all. Even set at the lowest setting (1 or 2 on the dial), toast or waffles will just keep toasting until they are burning and you have to manually push a button to pop the toast up. This initially happened on the number "6" setting so I thought "I'll just turn it down a bit," but no matter how low I turned the dial down, it still cooked toast until it began to burn. Very frustrating. This is not the cheapest 15 or 20 dollar toaster, so I thought something as simple as a darkness setting might actually function to some degree, but I was mistaken. Have returned it and will look to another brand--definitely not giving Hamilton beach another chance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleased with this toaster We have gone thru 3 toasters in the last few years, and none have toasted evenly. I also like the keep warm feature, and the stainless steel exterior. I must say that this one is a keeper! The only thing that makes me rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is the placement of the power cord. It comes out in the front (?) instead of the back, which makes it quite awkward to plug in. I also think the crumb tray should be in the front instead of the back. But it's not a deal breaker for us. Most importantly, it's how it toasts the bread.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Toaster without spending a lot. No more burnt toast. This toaster beeps when you bread is toasted perfectly, then pops up. No need to watch over it. It is a great little toaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes toast! My 10 year old toaster suddenly died, so I was in the market for a new toaster. I read the reviews, and did not find a clear winner in the low priced toasters, most complained of uneven toasting, and I refused to pay 100.00 + just to make toast. I happened to be out shopping and saw this toaster on sale for 1/2 price, so I decided to take a chance just so I could have toast with my breakfast, if it didn't work well I'd make do until a better one came along. I ran it a couple time without bread as the directions said to do. The fist time it produced quite a lot of odor, but there was little to none on the second cycle through. I set it at 4 (1/2 way) and dropped in a couple slices of wheat bread and pushed the lever down. It emitted a chirp, and went about it's business. After several minutes, about twice as long as my previous toaster, it chirped again and the toast popped up. giving the bread a complete once over I found it to be pretty evenly toasted to the prefect golden color. additional slices came out about the same, I was happy. I am not much of a bagel eater, but I have toasted a few english muffins to find I needed to turn up the darkness knob to 5 to not undertoast them. I have no use for the defrost option, and see very little need for the keep warm cycle, so I have yet to use them. Pros: Makes toast, like a toaster should! Even toasting of bread and english muffins (with darkness turned up for the muffins). Very satisfied with performance. Beep at end of cycle means I don't need to closely watch it. Cons: (closer to quibbles) Cord is short, comes out of center of right side, limiting location to close to and to left of outlet. Crumb tray comes out of end opposite of controls requiring toaster to be turned around to clean. Somewhat slow. Keep warm button must be pressed prior to end of toasting cycle and only holds for an additional 3 minutes, limiting it usefulness. Defrost cycle???
