Ratings & Reviews+

Hartz Groomer's Best Hairball Control Shampoo for Cats is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 'Cat' and I both hate this stuff. Cat got a bath about an hour ago. She's physically a cat, mentally a dog. She doesn't LIKE water, but she does tolerate her occasional bath, for when she's spent too much time collecting the dust bunnies and such from under the counters. I bought this pink little bottle after having a hard time picking between the TWO options Walmart carries; WHY does the human shampoo go on forever, yet a cat and dog get to choose between two? They either smell like oatmeal and something powdery or like sticking your face into a pot of decaying flowers. Scrub scrub, rinse rinse. Rinse some more. Rinse some more. Rinse some more. Dry her off with three towels because somehow she can hold two gallons of water within her fur. Twenty minutes later, the skin on my hands is red, hot to the touch, and oh, it ITCHES. Chemical burn? Allergic reaction? I don't know yet. I can handle being sensitive to something. I'm sensitive to everything. I can NOT handle, however, my cat chewing on every inch of skin she can reach, when she's not compulsively licking herself. The best part? She smells like.... a strange mix of talcum powder and the usual, horrible, overwhelming flower arrangement. Will not repurchase. Will not recommend. Walmart- PLEASE consider having more than two choices in the in store pet shampoo section.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Caused a reaction of excessive itching and licking I used this on a 6 month old kitten who wouldn't wash himself. Thought it did a good job. Fur was clean and soft, no tangling. Unfortunately, I started noticing a few hours later he was scratching and washing obsessively. I rinsed him again well. There may have been some residue left on his fur from when I washed him. It has been 3 days now, he has almost stopped having that itchy washing repetitious behavior. I suspect his body had an allergic reaction to the shampoo so I am not using it again.
