I've had my HD PVR 2 for the better part of a year and it is one of my favourite toys. I have it connected to my cable box using component cables and I record at the highest quality and my recorded videos are indistinguishable from 1080i TV broadcasts. I have my Hauppauge icon pinned to my Windows 10 taskbar and recording is a simple as clicking the icon. It is also very easy to schedule recordings using “Scheduler”. I use the free Windows “Movie Maker” program to cut, splice and edit my recorded videos and it works great and is very easy to do. The only thing that I haven't been able to do is set up the IR blaster to change channels so instead I just set a reminder on my cable box and it changes channels to the program I have scheduled to record. I highly recommend this product.

Wanted to capture HD TV from PVR and Hauppage seems to be the only game in town, to permit component cables to record copy-protected (HDCP) signals. After 30 hours wasted, where settings did not get retained, audio was often garbled and badly out of sync, and unable to properly capture multi-channel audio when using optical cable, I gave up. Would capture only in TS format, which took hours to render to MP4 (when it didn't crash). Latest drivers and capture software said to work on Windows 10, but even a powerful PC, running this as only app, repeatedly failed. Reboots after crash, and reinstalls of software and firmware did not help.
If you just want to do game capture from HDMI signal, then it may work, but this holds no interest for me. Device returned to store for credit after six days of trying everything to get it to function.
