Love it! I've had this brand before but the newer one has a knob volume control, which I appreciate as I can find tube the volume I want for each particular sound. I'm finally sleeping better and getting to sleep faster thanks to the comforting back noises. Also like the battery compartment for backup when needed or for travel.

I have used a sound machine since my first child was born in 97. Would keep one in his room to drown out noise so he could sleep, and I would hear it over the baby monitor. Also 2nd child in 2002- they grew up with one in their rooms and I had one. I've went threw about 4- I bought this same kind about 3 years- still works great- I purchased another for my dachshund to go into her room while she is in her kennel at night to drown out noise. She will bark if the security cameras goes off on our phone, and if she hears us still up watching tv or talking. 
I for one can't sleep without it.  If I have to take a work trip or we go on vacation, that is one item packed first!   Love it

I ordered it as a replacement for my older one that after eight years stopped working I wanted an exact replacement but they are no longer available so I chose this one and like it very much, it's a big improvement over the one I had, I'm very happy with it. I like the easy to use volume control , I use it to go to sleep every night . it remembers all your settings just push the timer button and it plays, if you want you can change your sound settings with the push of a button it's very easy to use I would recommend it to any one

I bought this  HoMedics SS-2000 Travel Sound System for my sister.  She lives in an apartment where her neighbors are TOO LOUD.  This HoMedics system has 5 different sounds to choose from.  it is small enough to do the job and it does not take up too much room.  The orice was also JUST RIGHT.

JUST RIGHT!!

I've had a few of these, pretty much identical, Homedics sound machines over the years. The sound machines last a long time.  They have a battery backup, a timer (optional use), volume control and multiple cool background sounds to choose from.  My favorite is "waterfall."  This machine is just a backup for when my current 8 year old machine finally dies.

High quality, long life

I bought this sound machine because I am an extremely light sleeper. This isn't so loud that I can't hear my alarm, but loud enough that every little noise doesn't wake me up (the volume can be adjusted and does go very loud if needed). I have also carried this with me when we stayed in a hotel. I like that it can work off of batteries or with the wall plug making it easy to move from room to room. The sounds are very realistic, so much that my dog that is scared of thunder DOES NOT like the setting with rain and thunder. Price was very reasonable and I am very happy with my purchase and also purchased one for my dad to help him sleep and he is also very happy with the sound machine. Will definitely buy again if this one quits working and would definitely recommend!

Would recommend to purchase

Works well for the need.  I had the same product for quite a few years and the volume/on-off button was the same design...which I find not consumer use friendly.  It is recessed a bit and is hard to grab (and I have small hands)  and adjust the volume.  Other than that issue it is an good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It wasn't quite a good as I had hoped, but still a decent sound machine. The sound isn't quite as soothing as my old one (that I was finally able to fix). I might have to return this new sound machine, but I'm still super happy with Walmart's goods and services overall!

I have bad anxiety and ocd -I need loud rain sounds to turn my brain off in order to sleep. I've tried tons of sound machines over the years. 

I recently stayed w/ a friend who had one of these in her guest room (such a  good host) and i slept AMAZING!! 
I immediately ordered one after the first night, so that it would be waiting for me when i got back home. 

Unfortunately, the one i got isn't the same quality as the older model that  my friend has. With that said,  I gave it to my parents who are enjoying it.  don't have any complaints. They don't like it nearly as loud as i do, so the volume isn't an issue for them. They enjoy it and have no complaints.  

if you're looking for lots of noise options %26  you don't want/ need it to be super loud, you might like this one!  

cons:
* wasn't loud enough (for me) 
* starts  to get staticky about 2/3 of highest volume
* the plastic is different  than my friends version and feels cheap. 

pros : 
*dial controls instead of having to press annoying little buttons 
* plenty of sound options

New model isn't the same quality

l had this same Sound Machine for Years and finally died. I purchase an identical new one and it would work maybe 5 mins., so I changed batteries and same thing. I thought maybe I had bad batteries. Returned %26 ordered same machine and second one did the same. Its a pain to have to return so I DN go for %233. I probably just got hold of a batch that was bad from production.  I miss the White Noise.
