I've had this robot for over 2 years now and I love it. I thought it would be a toy but it really works. Be careful to get cords out of the way - anything that might get tangled (just like for a regular vacuum) It does stop before running off the top of the stairs, but can't pull itself back off the edge, so I put up something to stop it. Do clean it per instrauctions. I run it every few days and the battery is still strong. Since it will do the vacuuming, I am more willing to turn chairs up on the table etc, so I get a better job than I did before. It's great.

I WAS SKEPTICAL WHEN I PURCHASED THIS MIDDLE RANGE PRICED IROBOT.
IT IS WONDERFUL  IT CLEANS GREAT, DOES EXACTLY WHAT THE EXPENSIVE ONES DO, BUT IS HALF THE COST. I USE IT UPSTAIRS AND THEM DOWNSTAIRS AND IT WORKS 
GREAT IN BOTH LOCATIONS.  I AM REALLY GLAD THAT I PURCHASED MYSELF THIS IROBOT AS MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT 
DON'T BUY THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONE BECAUSE THIS ONE DOES EVERYTHING THAT
"THOSE" DO.

AS GOOD AS THE BEST

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wanting one of these. This is the smaller/cheaper version. It does not have the timer to schedule on it but it cleans very well. It gets under the bed, tables, chairs. It's great! Make sure to clean the trash bin & roller regularly. Make sure to put pet bowls out of reach & no loose socks on the floor. I love it.

Easy clean

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this iRobot Roomba vacuum as part of the Spark Reviewer program. I was excited to try it because I had heard good things about these vacuums. I set up the docking station in my hallway, charged the Roomba for 3 hours as recommended, then pressed the "Clean" button twice to get it started. I put this in one bedroom at a time, so it could thoroughly clean the carpet, and I was not disappointed. The small dirt trap is easy to remove and empty. I would recommend emptying after each room. Of course, I have several dogs in the house, so it picked up a lot of dog hair and needed to be emptied more frequently. The Roomba ran for about an hour, then it automatically came back to the docking station when the battery power was low, for re-charging. It is easy to pause the Roomba with the press of a button, and then resume with another press. Has a carry handle on the top of it, so you can pause it and then move to another room without turning the whole thing off.

Perfect for one room cleaning!

So far I really like this machine. It does pick up all those annoying dust bunnies and dirt particles with ease. It goes over my thick rugs and over the doors threshold  with no problem. it goes under the table and chairs and always figures out the way out. It is not as quiet as I would like to, but it's not so bad that I can't live with it. I like that it goes back to the docking station when needs to recharge. It runs for around an hour before needing the recharge. 

Don't expect the machine to read your mind, just let it do it's thing and it will work fine. It could pass by some dirt but it eventually will come back and pick it up. Remember this is a machine not a human being.  When I want to keep it out of certain rooms I just simply close the door or put something heavy enough to block it and it will simply change directions.  Will see how long it last. Other than that, great item.

Great Roomba

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought all robot vacuum machines were pretty much the same until we got the iRobot Roomba 618. I have previously owned a Black & Decker model but it didn't clean along the edges and I still had to sweep. The Roomba 618 has brushes on the sides that get to all the edges and does an amazing job! It's twice as fast as the other model I used and covers more area on a single battery charge. It EASILY transitions from wood, tile and even vacuums our large accent rugs. With the previously mentioned B&D, I had to either remove the rugs (not an easy thing) or prop things under the rug so it wouldn't get stuck. The Roomba 618 never gets stuck!!! We have 3 dogs, 2 cats and kids so our floors take a beating. With a very large living room/dining room and family room it was difficult for me to keep up with the cleaning, especially since I work full time. With this iRobot, I turn it on in the morning and it cleans one room then returns to it's charging port. In the afternoon, it cleans another room so I'm actually using this twice a day and it's made my life so much easier! Just for the heck of it, I tried it on our bedroom carpet. To my surprise it works GREAT on carpeting too!!! It even goes under the bed, which is something my vacuum cleaner can't do! What impressed me the most is how it goes in a circle around table legs! I was concerned about whether it would travel over the transition strips (from bedroom carpet to living room hard wood), but it did so effortlessly. Honestly, I can't say enough about this handy little cleaner. It's a great investment and the quality is excellent. Having this machine has definitely made my life easier. Although more expensive than other robot vacuums, it's faster, more efficient and better made. As my Dad always said, you get what you pay for.

GREAT product! Does an amazing job!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little guy does a fairly good job.It really works well the shorter the rugs are .I don't think it would be good for shaggy rug. I have oriental rugs and they look pretty dam good after the roomba does its thing.

Irobot vac

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never owned a Roomba so I was excited to get this one. First of all it was a little bigger and heavier than I was expecting but felt study and well made from handling it. I'm one of those people who hates reading directions and the quick start guide made it very easy. You just plug in the charger. Set the Roomba on the charger (nothing to click in anywhere as the sensor on the Roomba just lays over the sensor on the charger) and that's it. Instructions said to charge for 3 hrs the first time. I set a timer on my phone for 3 hrs. I noticed there was no orange charge light anymore or any light at all and thought it wasn't charging but I found out even the charge lights turn off to save energy as its charging. I turned it on by pressing the start button once to wake it up and again to start it. I found that at the beginning and end of cleaning it makes some cute noises. 
 It vacuumed my house in a very random pattern but didn't seem to go over the same area more than twice. When it bumps into things its very gentle. I let it bump into my bare feet a couple times to see if it would hurt and it doesn't at all. I would feel safe with it running around near a pet that was over 5 pounds. I wouldn't let it run when I'm not home but I felt safe letting it roam around the house without having my eyes on it. I knew I would hear it if sounding different if it got caught up on anything. It only got caught up once on a pile of rolled up lead cord and I simply picked it up. (It stops when you pick it up) and put it back down and then hit the start button to start it again. It didn't try to eat my flip flops yet raised itself over the elevated floor plates between rooms. I don't have carpet so can't try it out on that. I feel it did a pretty good job cleaning my home and it felt like I had a maid.
 My only small complaints are that it seemed to spend a lot of time in one room and only ventured into other rooms for a little bit but I just put it in another room to make it concentrate on that room more. Also when I hit dock button it stopped and I hit it again to make it return to the docking station it didn't want to go straight to the dock and decided to do a little more work here and there on the way back ( sort of like a child told to come from playing at the end of the day who then decided to drag their feet on the way in) All and all its a cool little machine.
 One more thing, the instruction booklet is for a Roomba 600 not this 618. I contacted the company via chat on their website and they said its the same booklet so its fine. It just shows a page with a model that has a timer/clock on it but is also says only on select models ( not on this one)

Cool Little Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The iRobot worked as expected. It seems industrial as in size and weight. Expected iRobot to be smaller and lighter, however, it does the job of brushing up the floor of one of the rooms in the house. With hardwood floor it moved around easily making a whirring or whining noise. Somewhat of a white noise which is not loud to be annoyed about, but wish it was just a tad quieter.

Emptying the receptacle of collected dust and debris was not smooth for me, although it was the first time. While trying to remove the compartment for emptying, some of the debris was not all in the compartment but up in the machine. Probably my technique which I'll figure out as it's used more.

Instructions are straight forward and easy to setup and follow. Other than the size, weight, and noise, its a nice home device to have cleaning up after me.

Cleaning robot for the busy man

So I have owned Roomba's since they first came out. If you have never owned a Roomba they are definitely worth it. I have lots of furniture that are too low for the Roomba to fit under which I hate because you can definitely tell the difference of a floor that the Roomba has cleaned. We have all wood floors and 2 dogs so floors get hairs and dust constantly,so it's,nice to put the Roomba on and run to the store and come back to a cleaned floor.  It's definitely important to clean the machine after several uses especially if you have dogs to prevent clogging and cleaning performance. Just make sure there are no large items on the floor before you start such as wrappers, hair ties etc, the normal stuff kids leave! It's so easy to use that it is part of my teenage kids chore. All they have to do is set in center of floor and let the Roomba do it for them......they like that much better than vacuuming the floors.  Easy to clean. System docks on its base,when it needs to be charged, the only problem I have noticed is in my rental property we have open style stairs and for some reason it doesn't sense,the stair lip and gets almost to where it could fall down the stairs and then the sensor goes off and you have to reposition the Roomba to another spot,and then start it again. Probably wouldn't be an issue with stairs that do not have large spindles.

Roomba is the cleaning way to go

I purchased this product as I had an older model that someone gave me.  Loved that machine but could not get the battery to stay connnected. I have waited months to be able to purchase a Roomba.  I was so pleased when I could get this one.  But it is not near the machine I had before.  This one would not move from room to room as needed.dust bin was very small. The filter was located inside the dust bin which took up needed space. I have several cats and a dog and needed a machine that could work the entire house, and room in dust bin, and pick up cat fur.  I watched this machine go through the hall and blow cat fur around and not pick up. I also talked with Roomba customer service who thought if I gave it time it would work better.  I wasn't going to do that after I saw it blow the cat fur out of the way.  I returned this machine to the store and purchased another brand which I am very pleased with.
