This sweeps up a lot on both bare floor and rug.  It is better to move dining room chairs and similar items out of the area because it takes a lot of extra time to go around legs.  A chair on its side is a good blocker at a doorway if you don't want it to go out of the room.  The model numbering system for Roombas is somewhat confusing, but apparently series 600 and above are better than the earlier 500 series and lower.

Does a great job!

After much prevaricating about whether to purchase a Roomba (having seen my two children with one in both of their houses) - I finally decided to take the leap.  I have a small dog who sheds (but, I had absolutely NO IDEA) he shed as much as he does until now!  This small mighty machine picks up hair and dust like nobody's business.  So pleased with it and after a month - it is so nice not to have to drag my heavy Dyson around to clean the hardware floors.  Worth every penny...

Just a super little gizmo...

We tried a Neato Robotics XV 21 for pets and allergies. When it worked it was nice. However, reviews were right, quality control sporadic, had it replaced 4 times while under warrantee, the last unit worked for 6 months and stopped 2 months after the warrantee expired. Neato suggested their designated repair site and it was a nightmare. Long song and dance to be told it showed water damage and corroded contacts. Hey folks! it's humid here! put in some better quality contacts GM wishes they did on their starters~ Almost impossible to work on these yourself.

The Roomba is designed so that you can replace parts if needed. I didn't get the pull tab on the batteries completely out and did have to take a few screws out, lift the cover plate, remove the bit of tab and replace it all. The screws, cover plate, battery pack, all easy to remove and had a good fit when replacing. meaning all holes lined up, screws went back in smoothly. Not true of Neato. battery changing meant cussing trying to remove screws, batteries hard to replace and worst was getting cover plates realigned so the screws would go back in smoothly. would be easy to strop the threads.

This one is easy to clean the dust bin and brushes which come out easily for cleaning and go back in easily. So I have hopes this will last longer than the Neato. But best of all it works very well. Low enough to get under the sofa, side brush does work quite well on the edges of walls, fairly quiet, and covers a lot of area on one charge. With dogs and cats we get a lot of hair. I check the brushes and dirt bin after 15 minutes, and send back to work.

So far it looks as if it gets just as much dirt up as the neato, is easier to maintain and appears to be a better design. If it holds up as well as overall online reviews indicate and we can give it an overhaul with their replacement parts kit, if it does, we'll be pleased over the life of the unit also.

I had this in Australia and it's the first thing I bought when I moved to the US. It's easy to use, picks up as much as my vacuum cleaner and as far as I am concerned is a must have when you have pets. I use it every day.

This is a must have

I read all the review before purchasing and I was glad I did. I am handicapped and I watched IRobit clean my whole house. It is not loud - just a slight noise. My cats will have to get used to it; but they are not running too far away. :)

I Could Not Believe My Eyes.

Bought this one month ago and love it Previously owned a 360 Roomba and loved it too it just needs a new battery I love that I can clean other areas while vacuuming

iRobot Roomba 620 vacuum cleaner

I am very satisfied with my iRobot.  It does a very good job on my area rugs.  Although I am very satisfied, I must admit that it does not do a perfect job on my wooden floors.  I would definitely recommend this product.

Good product.

the robot vacuum sucks well, sucks everything out or leaves very little dirt behind. The only problem is that the robot does not have a built-in camera and only relies on its infra red base and has its "bumper" to detect walls and obstacles. He wants it to go back to the same place several times and take more time to finish. But for the price I can't complain. It doesn’t replace a vacuum cleaner, but I spend it much less often now.

Good for a regular interview

we run the roomba every week and we live in a condo (approx. 850 squarefeet) and it works great! it is still a pain to take out long hair from the roomba's feelers. a little loud (but same goes for any vacuum cleaner). 

sometimes it get stuck at certain locations but you just have to move it. its pretty amazing how it is able to go back and park itself.

cleans the floor well!

I bought the roomba and returned it a few days later. Yes, it did pick up dirt but it kept going around in circles and all I could think was "I could have this room done already with my broom or vacuum". My living room rug- it could not get onto and when I layed it on it, the machine told me to move it so it could continue on.

Bought a real vacuum instead.

Returned it!
