Description & Features+

In a quiet suburban town in the summer of 1958, two recently orphaned sisters are placed in the care of their mentally unstable Aunt Ruth (Emmy(R)-winner Blanche Baker of "Holocaust"). But Ruth's depraved sense of discipline will soon lead to unspeakable acts of abuse and torture that involve her young sons, the neighborhood children, and one 12-year-old boy whose life will be changed forever. William Atherton ("Die Hard"), Catherine Mary Stewart ("Night Of The Comet") and Grant Show ("Melrose Place") co-star in this devastating drama adapted from the controversial best seller by Jack Ketchum.

Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult subject matter At times very difficult to watch due to the subject matter. (The movie was inspired by true events). Nonetheless, cast was excellent and believable. Makes you question what really could be happening next door...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY, VERY TOUCHING MOVIE, NOT FOR EVERYONE This is a very good movie, but on the other hand it is also very touching and very sad. When I sat down to watch this movie, I could not take my eyes off of the T.V. for one moment. I have never in my life seen such extreme abuse inflicted on any human being. I have never seen anything like this!!. This lady abuse this young girl in a way, that you could NOT EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE. I like this movie because it is base on actual events. Sadly at the end of the movie, the young girl died at the hands of her abuser. This is a must see movie. Very good acting. Be prepared to have a lot of tissues, this is a real TEAR JERKER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible true story I hate to say this was a good movie due to it's nature and it being a true story, but the movie was made pretty well. From what I've seen in other places, this may be a little much in some areas meaning things may have been a little over done, but to me this is a touchy thing, and I want to be careful in how I word things. I certainly don't want to belittle what this poor girl went through by any means. It really makes your blood boil to see what people are capable of. It's hard to fathom human beings doing such things to others. But back to the movie, I think the characters did a good job and it was made pretty well. It keeps you interested thru the whole movie. It's definately worth getting.
