Ease Of Installation

Can be quick, but may require technical expertise.

Made with metal fabrication for robust build.

I could not use a standard baby gate at the top of our stairs as there wasn't any wall or stair post to affix the gate hinge and lock. 

THANKFULLY this KidCo Angle Mount baby gate allowed me to have the lock secured to the wall at a 90 degree angle to the hinge. See pics for examples. It feels really secure (drilled into studs behind the drywall).

But the stairwell gap is about 42” which is right at the limit of this baby gate, so I also purchased the extension separately. Altogether super pleased with how it turned out. 

I haven't seen many reviews or examples of this gate placement, so if this is your situation, rest assured it works well. There is one part that is normally used on the top locking mechanism which prevents outward opening of the gate, but since the wall does the same, this part is unneeded. You actually can't use it if you need the gate to lock in parallel to the locking mechanism.

The gate itself is really sturdy and a nice design. However it's tough to install and get closed one handed.  I have to use my foot to align the bottom closure. It's also hard to adjust with one person if you don't align it precisely when installing.

Ok...

So far, it's been a great gate. We installed it at the bottom of our stairs with the banister kit. It's intended to keep our 1 year old from going up the stairs. My 5 year old can open it & or 3 year old can almost open it. It looks great, swings out of the way when not needed, & can come off easily if needed. Everything we were looking for.

Perfect gate for stairs & children

Overall I like the gate, it was an angle mount which was essential because I don't have 2 studs directly across from each other to mount any other kind of gate and I like that there's no threshold. We used this for a hallway not stairs. What I disklike is the install process, it was way more challenging than it needed to be, directions are unclear in some parts, it lists the items included but not how many of each you should have so no way of knowing you're missing something until you need it. Installing was such a pain, that's why it lost 2 stars, basically throw out the template, install the hinge side then line up the other side while you fiddle with how wide the gate should be. The latch parts are plastic so time will tell if it holds up!

Great for an angle mount, terrible installation

Returned gate because of all the plastic parts and time to install. We purchased another Cardinal gate because it was easier and faster to install than this one would have been. The handle for opening looked like it would have been easier to open with one hand and because it could also be mounted at an angle was the reason we had purchased.

Lots of plastic parts

It's hard to close... not an easy latch at the bottom... be ready to spend a little time getting used to how to do it.
