I bought the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder Attachment thinking it would help me slice a few cucumbers and maybe shred some cheese. What I did not expect was to unlock a level of kitchen power that should honestly require a permit.

The moment I attached this thing to the mixer, it transformed from a friendly countertop appliance into a high‑speed produce‑obliterating machine. I fed a carrot into it and it shredded so fast I thought I accidentally opened a wormhole.

I'm not exaggerating — I blinked and suddenly had enough shredded cheese to supply a mid‑sized taco truck. I shredded so much zucchini I briefly considered starting a farmers market. I sliced potatoes so perfectly I felt like I should be wearing a chef's coat and yelling “YES, CHEF” at myself.

The attachment is easy to clean, but only because it vaporizes anything that touches it. I'm convinced if I dropped a brick in there, it would come out as confetti.

Pros:
- Turns your KitchenAid into a culinary wood chipper  
- Slices and shreds faster than your brain can process  
- Makes you feel like a professional chef even if you can't boil water  

Cons:
- You will shred everything in your fridge “just to see what happens”  
- You will run out of containers to store all the shredded stuff  
- You will become emotionally attached to the power  

Final Verdict:
If you want an attachment that slices, shreds, and makes you question why you ever used a knife like a peasant, this is the one.  
Just be prepared to shred everything that isn't nailed down.

This Thing Turned Me Into a Full‑Time Vege

This gadget is my most used attachment for my kitchen aid. I shred all of our cheese we purchase and I buy a lot of different kinds. This gets used twice a week. Easy to put together, easy to clean. Does not rust. I recommend using a brush to clean thoroughly if the cheese is stuck to it. Definitely would recommend.

Great cheese shredder

I've needed an automatic shredder for years.  Hand grating is time consuming and lengthy (for me).  Freshly shredded is so much better than the prepackaged I've been buying.   Assembling and using was easy.  I made the mistake of cutting my strips too wide so there was buildup and disassembling was impossible.  My son recommended this to me and showed me what I'd done wrong.   Love it.  Yet to use for veggies, trying that this weekend.

I use this to shred cheese. It works well. Cleanup is much easier than with my food processor. Ease of use is also better than that of the food processor for shredding cheese. The main part is not dishwasher safe. That said, it's still super easy to clean up. It does not take up much space either. Happy with this purchase

Good cheese shredder

I used this for some bigger family dinners and it worked great. We only used it for cheese, so not zucchini, carrots, or any other food like that yet. We had to cut the cheese into smaller blocks so it would fit down the tube. It shred it perfectly without issue and it came out great. The last bit of cheese will sometimes get clogged or not shred all the way, but it didn't bother me and it comes apart so easy to put in the dishwasher. Overall it is a great attachment, but pricey like the others.

It's nice that it takes up less room than a food processor, but food tends to get stuck on the between the attachment and the barrel and doesn't get shredded properly.  It's still easier and let time consuming than grating by hand, but now sure it's worth the price.

Just ok

I thought I would be safe Kitchen Aid product. I am very disappointed in the product.  Doesn't feed food out to bowl. Very messy to use %26 food gets mushy .   I have been cooking for over 50  years  . I am sure I had it put together correctly.  Hooe I can return .

Would not recommend.

Have only tried the large grater with cheddar cheese, but it didn't work as I expected. cheese was stuck to i side if grater and had to drop pretty far into a bowl. needed a taller bowl.  Didn't get it returned in time, so will just have to practice more and try veggies, etc.

Don't waste your money. I only used one of the shredders on cheese. The clean up takes way too long, and it allows only a rather small amount of cheese to be shredded at a time. I will return this total waste of equipment. 
I expected more from KitchenAid.

Such a Disappointment

It grinds hard veggies to a pulp instead of slicing, etc. so far, I hate it. Also, no instructions as to how to even connect it to your machine. I had to look online or try to figure it out on my own. I like KitchenAid mixers, but I don't like this accessory.
