[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The K'NEX Education: Intro to Simple Machines - Levers and Pulleys Building Set is intended to spur the creative juices of future S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students. The provided literature specifies for children 8+ years of age. My wife is a second grade teacher. I sent the set to school with her. She provides a manipulatives stations for students who finish there work early. She has stations with K'NEX, Leggos, Lincoln Logs, and Mega Blocks. My wife was amazed at some of the things her second graders made with this kit. Both boys and girls enjoyed building different working structures.

Included in the kit are: 178 pieces along with an assembly suggestion guide, Teacher's guide (on CD) and a convenient storage box with lid. The K'NEX Education: Intro to Simple Machines - Levers and Pulleys Building Set will provide hours and hours of productive and educational fun for your budding S.T.E.M. student.

About the only thing that I did not like about the kit was the cover sticker/security label. It is impossible to open and leave a presentable cover on the top. The manufacture should have a sticker label and then security tape/tabs on the top's sides

I would recommend this hands-on learning tool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves this K'NEX set! When it arrived, he couldn't wait to assemble the projects described in the instructions. (Although he was a little disappointed that there was no sail included for the sailboat, that didn't stop him for long.) Because he is fascinated with elevators, he has been making his own "elevators" with the K'NEX pieces lately. This set has provided hours of fun for him already, and he continues to be interested in seeing what he can create. I like the fact that it came in a sturdy container that can be used for storage. (Those cardboard boxes just don't last; but this heavy plastic storage box is perfect!) My husband has been able to have conversations with my kids about pulleys and levers and the places they can find them in familiar machines. STEM concepts are introduced and/or reinforced through the creative building this set encourages. Critical thinking is required to come up with original machines. Kids can also work together on these projects and build their cooperative skills as well as their scientific skills. I would recommend this kit for children 8 – 12, but I think even older kids might like it, too. My kids are learning in such a fun way with this kit, we are planning on purchasing more K'NEX kits for Christmas presents.

Hours of Fun for an Inquisitive Little Mind

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter and both of them enjoyed playing with this. It was fun constructing the various objects and then using them to show how levers and pulleys work. The visual instructions were easy to follow to construct the objects and the individual pieces were easy to snap together. The container that it came in is very functional and will work well to store the pieces over time.

Great toy as well as educational

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband is in love with this set. Since childhood, he has always wanted K'Nex. It may have taken 30 years, but he couldn't be happier. The first thing he did was build the suggested race car, and he had no difficulties with the directions. The final product was very sturdy, so you don't have to be delicate when playing. He enjoys all the connector pieces that allow pivot/swivel motions. The set comes with a ramp, so he's looking forward to launching all of his creations off of it!

My husband loves this set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Me and my kids have been playing with these for a while now. My 7 year old had some trouble doing this by himself. I didn't have to much trouble understanding how to build the things in the instruction book. All my kids loved it. Even my 3 year old daughter had fun playing with the different things we built. I had got two other sets as well and all 3 was fun for all my kids to play with. For a educational toy this fun for them and they wanted to build their on things as well. Cones in a plastic case so no worrying about a box getting ruined.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to use. K'NEX has some awesome sets designed for playful science minds. I have a student who loves science. When we studied levers and pulleys in school he was in love with pulleys and how they transfer weight with just a little wheel and make a hard job easier. So you can imagine how ecstatic he was to get this set! Right out of the box he was trying the example models in the picture instructions and raising a smiley paper banner on his first fixed pulley. There are instructions, but the student doesn't have to be glued to them. They can learn from them, and then expand their minds by trying to do things differently, like an engineer. They may however need a few more pieces than what comes in the set to do this. I gave this four stars because it is really cool. It teaches hands on science, the student/your child can play and learn on their own with minimal help from you (though you will likely want to play/build too if you like science), and they learning by building with their own hands encouraging their own imagination to grow. I didn't give it five stars just because some of the connector pieces broke. This stuff is flexible, but not unbreakable. So be careful not to put to much stress on the pieces putting them together or taking them apart.
