I am thrilled with my kobo glo ereader! It's is light and comfortable to hold and the backlight is just enough to make it easy for me to read without disturbing others!

Exactly what I was looking for!

From what I liked about this e-reader: - The front lighting that allows to read anywhere and that does not tire the eyes after several hours. Nice! I love it!!! - 2 GB of memory that allows you to put 1200 digital books without putting an additional memory card. A must! - A very responsive touch screen. - The many formats that this eReader can read. - A 3 weeks autonomy by removing the wifi. What I liked less: - Slowness at the start of the e-reader. Metadata that is missing from some books. What I would have liked: - A physical button back to the home page. More practical to my taste! - The built-in dictionaries a little more provided in the definition of words. - Have more French e-books. Most of them are in English. I love this book even though it is not perfect. On this note, I will continue to read...

My first reading...

I bought this for my husband for Christmas, as an upgrade from his older Kobo. He researched all the readers and prefers the Kobo - best bang for the buck. He really likes this version and loves the lighting so that he can read in the evening even in low light. Ordering this item was easy, it was in stock, and it arrived quickly.

Kobo Glow

After waiting years since hearing about 'The Kindle' I studied reviewed and asked questions and got other opinions before getting an e reader I finally decided on the "KOBO GLO" and I love it not sorry I got it at all still learning how to do different things but happy I got it!!

After waiting many years for an ereader I finally decided to pick up the kobo glo. One of the main reasons I picked to one up was the price and excellent quality of the light. I was initially going to grab the kindle paperwhite but got tie of amazon short changing Canadians with their delay in releasing products in Canada.

The initial setup was a bit cumbersome with the Glo. Even though it was a simple 3 step process it took some time because it had to download the latest update right away which took some time. Also the first three times i turned it on it kept asking me to setup again and reconnect to wifi.

Apart from that I must say I have been pleased with the Glo. The back light is excellent and provides an even "glow" across the screen. The only time u see the source light is when u tilt the reader at an extreme angle to see under the bezel.

Although I wish the battery life was better than the reported two weeks, it still is decent enough it not be a bother. The page turns are quick and efficient as well. I wish free we're physical page turn buttons on this device though. That would have bumped my feature score from a 3 to a 4 for sure.

Overall a great ereader with great technology behind its glow light.

Wonderful ereader

I don't know if I have a defective one but I cannot use this reader for an extended period outside in the sun. It eventually freezes up; I have to turn it off for a while and then reset it! Very frustrating!

Not for use outside in summer weather.

I notice the great reviews come after only 2 to 7 weeks of ownership. I was quite happy with mine during that same time frame. HOWEVER, I was aware, from reviews on other sites, of problems with horizontal & vertical lines across the screen occurring, but I ignored those reviews and now I regret it. After a bit more than 5 months, the lines also appeared on my screen. (See attached photo.) Kobo's support site says that these lines are a result of product defect and covered under the warranty, but when I contacted them, they refused to honour the warranty, claiming that it was customer damage. There are known issues with the Glo, and rather than honouring the warranty and paying for repair or replacement, they claim that it is customer damage and not covered under the warranty. This way they avoid the cost of repair or replacement. This is NOT a Wal-Mart customer service issue - it IS a KOBO service issue - as in they fail to honour their warranties. Unfortunately Kobo pretty much has the whole e-reader market in Canada.

Failed after 5 months

Keep a paperclip handy, you will need it to reset the reader when it locks up. Also make sure everything you have on it is backed up because when the soft reset doesn't work you will be doing a factory reset and will lose everything on it. All in all a very frustrating experience.

Waiting for my reader to be replaced for the third time. First time the electronics failed, no lights or anything. Replacement, battery lasted two days. Next one has more electronics issues. Won't work at all. My warranty runs out in April and then I will be hooped. Won't buy Kobo products again.
