Description & Features+
This features three of the most memorable episodes that display the special bond only a mother and child can share. "The Runt" (1955) - All of Lassie's puppies have been given away, except for Laddie, the runt. Scared that he will be given away, Lassie's maternal instincts kick in and she decides to hide him in an abandoned mineshaft. Jeff and Gramps go searching for the missing runt and discover Lassie needs their help when her hiding spot becomes unsafe. A daring rescue proves the true meaning of a mother's love. "The Wrong Gift" (1959) - Timmy buys a Mother's Day present for his mother, but his more frugal choice gets mixed up with his friend Willie's more costly gift. Timmy can't bear to tell his mother after seeing her happy reaction, so he takes steps to make up the difference to Willie. As he quickly tries to earn enough money to pay Willie, Mother's Day takes a turn for the worse, and Timmy learns it's really the thought that counts. "Lassie's Wild Baby" (1959) - Depressed because she isn't expecting a litter, Lassie adopts what the Martins think is a kitten. In reality, "Sir Hercules" is a tiny mountain lion, whose real mother is on the prowl for her missing baby. When the kitten keeps causing trouble, it must be sent in back. A reluctant Timmy and Lassie comply, unaware that the angry mother lion is stalking them all the way.
