LEGO Bionicle - Gali – Master of Water (70786) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gali ~ The Master of Water This set really stands out to me as a great set. Let's look at some of the aspects of the set. Pros: *Pose-ability is excellent, and the gear function is neat, allowing kids to twist them and allow Gali's arm to move, so she can attack her foes. *Color blend is very good, with bright blue and yellow colors to be able to spot her out very well. And the metallic grey and silver colors make her look like she has a good amount of armor, perfect for boys or even a girl to enjoy this awesome female warrior. *The dual functionality of the flippers into a spear is very good, as one could pretend she uses the flippers to swim underwater, and one could use the spear as a way to defeat the bad-guys, like Lord of the Skull Spiders. *Gear function stays in place, so one could pose her in attack position or to look cool! *Perfect for girls interested in the BIONICLE theme! Cons (not a lot of these) *You may have to position shoulder armor for her to use the gear function in full affect, but this does not stop the play function, anyways. *The Skull Spider that comes with the set may seem a bit bland for Gali to fight against... I would recommend having the other sets so she could either fight more with allies or they could have certain adventures. *Yellow color could detract from the blue and metallic colors in the color scheme, but it still looks good on her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! As someone who grew up with LEGO and Bionicle, I was hyped for the release of new Bionicle sets. I had to buy one from this set when I first saw it; I chose Gali. The quality is excellent, and for both old and new fans of Bionicle the build utilizes many new features as well as improvements over old ones. As someone who has experience with many of the old Bionicle sets, I loved seeing that the Technic functionality is back--Gali features a rotating arm, much like the early Toa. This time around it not only rotates but has full articulation. Another feature I enjoy is the new ball sockets halfway across some of the joints, allowing for easy attachment and detachment of armor pieces. As a toy, the product is excellent. The parts are durable and very modular. Gali is very poseable as well. The color scheme is very pleasant, with a lighter blue in the main elements, while a dark metallic grey is seen on others. There is also some yellow seen in Gali, adding a pleasing contrast to the cool blue. Both opaque and translucent blue elements are used in Gali. Design-wise, the style compared to older iterations of Bionicle is closer to what could be described as "cartoon-ish." Gali looks like a character in a graphic novel, and the more square-shaped and accentuated elements convey this well. The printing on Gali's chest piece has this theme. I think this is a refreshing change for Bionicle that is ultimately very appealing. The product is both functionally and aesthetically pleasing, and the 87 part-count gives both new and old builders a good challenge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Water Master Pro: Better gear function(compared to the 01' set), Trident/Spear is awesome, Good Mask design, Great playability and posability Con: Adding flipper peaces makes weapon a little heavy, Ankle spikes seem unnecessary, Shoulder pieces seem to get in the way of the head, Head lever seems like its going to cause a lot of problems with the mask staying on The first that thing that sold me on this set was the spear then finding out the flippers made it in to a trident made it that much better. The color scheme is great I like this shade of blue and clear blue parts is great, although the two masks look great in both blue and gold i'd like to see a clear blue version like in the original set. The over all stance of this figure is good. even thought the flipper parts make the weapon a bit heavy but the new gear function can hold it up well. The shoulder pieces were a bit bulky and seems to get in the way at first. out of the three smaller Toa sets I would recommend this on first

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gali's 7 Year Return Gali has always been a personal favorite of mine from the Bionicle series, and it is great to see her return after 7 years (last seen in 2008). The new set captures a lot of her classic elements along with many new ones. Pros: -Stronger Build A nice update with the current build system (introduced in Hero Factory) is that the joints are quite strong and can be taken apart and rebuilt quite frequently. This is in contrast to the original parts which sometimes snapped when taken apart. -The mechanical feature in the arm can swing when you turn the gear, and yet, can hold a pose, something new to the 2015 Bionicles. The mechanism is simple, and yet quite sturdy and does not wear out quickly. -Launching Mask Function A fun mechanical feature, especially to launch the included Skull Spider with. -Includes a Skull Spider. It is really nice being able to gain an opponent for the heroes to face all the while buying your favorite character. A fight between the two is a wash in Gali's favor, but hey, it is a fun gimmick. -Great color scheme Very much a matter of opinion. I think the colors work really well. -Gold Mask Kind of neat to be able to get these collectible masks with the figures. Cons: -Slight Balance Issues Gali has some trouble standing when she holds her completed staff. And while using the fins on her feet gives her more foot area, she is somewhat top heavy, and the joints at her hips move when you least expect them to. -Mask Knocks off easily So, while the launch feature is fun, the mask does come off quiet easily, especially when one turns the head. -Lack of Classic Aesthetic The new arm function is ingenious (hats off to the design department on that!), however, the overall build lacks a lot of the classic Bionicle appearance. Limbs often look flat and lack the detail of cylinders and pistons the old models have. Not to say it's better or worse, the aesthetic is just missing. -No Spider-Pack While the Skull Spider is cool, it would be neater if there was a package one could buy which came with 3-7 Spiders to build a swarm. Conclusion: Gali, Master of Water is a great addition to ones Constraction Figure collection, capturing a lot of the great elements from her G1 appearance. I would certainly recommend her to any fans of the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "The toa of water is here! Sound the alarm!" I saw this set on sale at Target, so I grabbed it! I was really excited about the Dark Azure CCBS shells in this set, and to have the Okoto style version of everyone's favorite toa of water. Pros: -Dark Azure shells! Finally! -Redesigned version of Gali's mask -Golden mask of power -Trans-blue bone pieces -Weapon can convert into three different modes -Slender, female design Cons: -Silver skull spider (A new red or regular blue would've been preferred) -Shoulder armor REALLY gets in the way of posing the figure -Smaller mask than I had anticipated -Too much Dark Gunmetal Gray, more blue would've been a great touch Overall, Gali Master of Water is a really great and satisfying Bionicle set, even with the cons it has. If you want a set with great pieces, have the money or are just looking for a set to complete your Bionicle collection, I would recommend this to any Lego fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gali Gali first appeared as one of Bionicle's original six Toa, the Toa Mata. This is her fourth incarnation, and the first one in Bionicle's 2015 reboot. So, let's get into the set! PLEASE NOTE: If you don't want to read the lengthy amount of stuff I've written about this set, you can skip to the bottom and read the summary. As a set, Gali come with many new parts (see pic 6) . The skull spider, her normal blue mask, and her golden mask are all new, as well as her silver armor add on, her silver flippers, and her head and neon yellow/green eyestalk. She also comes with 4 new blue armor pieces. They're lighter than the normal blue pieces we got in sets like Hero Factory's Surge & Rocka Combat Machine, but darker than the azure pieces we got with many of the beasts from Hero Factory: Invasion from Below. Her printed chest plate is also cool looking, with a few chrome blue accents thrown in. The build itself is easy (but not too easy). I recommend that you pay close attention while building the gearbox on her back, as one error can render it dysfunctional. The completed model looks amazing and is very well armored, even on her back (see pic 4). While the yellow "Technic knob wheels/gears" that come with the other Toa clash with their clash color schemes, on Gali it looks perfectly fine, as her color scheme already incorporates yellow. Overall, I think this is a great set, and is one of my favorite Toa from this wave. Lego kept the old Gali's personality (such as her calm and likable demeanor), but added new things (such as how she is terrible at telling jokes). However, just by looking at the set, you can still tell that it's undeniably Gali. My only complaint is that the trident is a bit heavy when you add her flippers to her spear. So heavy, in fact, that her arm flops around a bit when you turn the gear to move her arm. Her shoulder add on makes this worse. However, this is only an issue for her trident arm. The other con is that there exposed ball joints on either side of her chest piece. This doesn't bother me too much, but I can understand if you hate it. However, this problem can be very easily fixed by adding armor to the exposed ball joint. The skull spider that comes with this set can be attached to her head or be knocked off by pressing the eye stalk. It makes her look very menacing (pic 3). Her golden mask also looks good on her as well (pic 2). She also has great playability. Since all the Toa come with the gear system, it's fun for two or more of you to get together with your sets and try to knock each other's masks off. I would recommend this set for many people, especially for girls (as Gali is a very cool and strong female character), people who like the color blue (like me), fans of her character, or simply Bionicle fans who are all grown up now and want to relieve the nostalgia of 2001. A fun fact is that you can connect the flippers on her feet using the red pegs to make her sort of look like a mermaid, which goes very well with her underwater theme (pic 5). While I don't care much for this pose, I think some people will. SUMMARY: Pros: - Great, consistent color scheme. Arguably better than her 2001 version's. The yellow knobs/gears in back don't clash with her color scheme. - Cool weapon - Flippers can be added to trident... or connected to make her look like a mermaid if you want her to. - new parts, including the introduction of a new shade of blue. - many translucent elements. - new mask builds on design of old one, but still distinctively Gali - good money value Cons: - trident can be clunky; shoulder add on get in the way when using gear system. - exposed ball joints on either side of chest (a minor gripe, and one that can be easily fixed). See ya!
