Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Bionicle - Onua – Master of Earth (70789) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bionicle Returns! When I saw that Bionicle was coming back, and saw the set that were built more according to their skills/personalities, I had to get them, at least, my favourite one, Onua. I've been a fan of Bionicle since the very first sets, and Onua was my first Bionicle, and my favourite one, so I had to purchase him yes or yes! Building it was a nice experience, I've been outside the Lego world for a couple of years and I didn't see the changes of the pieces, so the building experience was new, and fun! However there were a small flaws that I don't think they deserve to be mentioned because the set overall is a really great purchase! Some new pieces, like the black and purple ones on the arms and legs looks to be kind of fragile, but if you use the set with care, nothing happens, the pieces are reallly strong, as so Onua is, he is really big, and is fun having him. Some Cons I would mention are minimum, the mask can be deatached really easily if you want to change the head position and the gearbox is really strong, really hard to move the arms. Overall is a really worthy set, would recommend it 10/10 if you're a Bionicle fan. Give yourself a tribute by having this new line, and see where the future of Bionicle goes! PD: Lego, why didn't you use canisters like the old ones? :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Master of Earth Onua was one of the six Master Toa that stood out to me the most, with his new huge torso and shoulders that demanded you recognise his strength, an enormously different message that was felt from his first generation appearance. This was the most challenging Master Toa to build, owing to a complex torso to accomadate the bulky armor and the need to apply the decal on his chest by hand, unlike the others where it is already printed on. Although appearing larger, Onua stands at a similar height to the other Masters but certainly stands out from the group. I felt that his legs could have done with a little bulking up to match the torso and help deliver the full extent of the powerful aura that is given out Otherwise this character is great and his mask has distinct similaraties to that of his first generation self, though i do miss the claw hands! Overall playability seems good, basically no restriction on the amount of body or head movement which is good, though the head seems as though it could have been made a fraction larger to match the torso.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great set Its was fun building it. The color scheme is amazing!!! The gear can move both arms, but there is one problem with this set for me, the gears sometimes get stuck when moving the arms. I really love how the hammer can turn into claws for digging. Its a great set for kids and any bionicle lovers out there who don't have it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Onua Toa of Earth Onua is a great set. I just love his color scheme. The black, gold, purple, trans-purple, and silver go really well together. His weapons are really nice, especially his hammer. And his gear function is second to none. Onua is very different looking than the other toa, mainly because he is almost as wide as he he is tall. But this is not a bad thing. This makes him the most unique of all the toa. He also has clawed/ webbed feet that give the look of someone that would be digging underground. He has huge shoulders, that are actually the same pieces used for his turbo shovelers. He also has a huge chest piece, but unfortanetly, has stickers. I don't hate stickers, but they can be a pain in the butt to put on. But, with the stickers it looks great. He also has a long neck which allows for way more possibility and a hunched look. His colours go really nice together, especially the black and purple. He even has trans-purple bones! It looks so beautiful in the light. The gold pieces look really nice too. His weapons are really cool. He can either have two big turbo shovelers, and when you turn the gear on his back it makes it look like Onua is "digging" underground, which is just awesome. Or you can combine his turbo shovelers to make a gigantic earthquake hammer. His hammer is really cool, but when you turn his gear, one arm has nothing to hold and looks kinda weird. It is not a major problem, but it kinda looks weird at times. But if you combine him with the Protector of Earth, this problem is solved, because you put the protectors drill in his open hand. His functions are great, especially his gear function. It is super strong, making it almost stiff and hard to turn. But that is not an issue whatsoever. It is so strong that it can hold super heavy weapons, including his hammer, without even falling. You can even shake him and his arms will not even budge, unlike Tahu or Kopaka's gear function, which is just strong enough to hold their weapons up, but nothing else. His mask pop off function is the same as al, the others. When you hit the back off the eye stalk, the mask, or skull spider, goes flying. But this also means that the mask can sometimes fall off unintentionally. Also, it can not be combined with older bionicle sets, meaning the masks are not compatible. But it is not a huge problem. His double weapon function is cool, but different from that of Tahu or Kopaka, where their weapons connect to their feet, a surfboard for Tahu, skis for Kopaka, his weapons though, do not connect to his feet, but his hands. It is not my favorite double weapon function, but it is still pretty cool. The skull spider is the same as the ones that come in Tahu, the Protector of Fire, and the Protector of Earth. It is a light, pale green colour, and is one of the three types you can get, the other are silver or blue. Onua also has the most pieces, making him the best bang for your buck. And is complex too, making him a fun building challenge. Short version: Pros: - weapon function - gear function - looks - pieces - color scheme - bulkiness - masks Cons: - nothing In conclusion, I think Onua is a great set. Get him before he is gone! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Onua, Toa of Awesomeness! For seven months I waited for these sets. Seven very long and agonizing months. Now, I finally have Onua, and he has reached every expectation I held for him. Articulation: Onua has 14 points of articulation, which are all very smooth, and not limited by anything. 10/10 Playability: Onua has three play features: The gear function, the mask function, and the double weapon function. The gear function, for the most part, is quite sturdy, allowing you to hold any pose that you put the arms in using said function. It's also well hidden, thanks to his shoulder armor and chest plate, which I find to be very nice. The mask function is interesting, however it does make the mask easier to knock off, and most of the time it's accidently. Finally, there's the double weapon function, which allows you to take the two silver parts of his hammer, split them apart, and put one in each of his hands, which gives of a Toa Mata/Nuva like vibe to him. 9/10 Color scheme: In my opinion, I think that the colr scheme is great, and that every color just goes well together. 10/10 Comlexity: Onua is not overly complex like say, Brutaka or Hydraxon, but his torso and hammer do have a bit of complexity in them, enough so that it meets its age range. 8/10 Overall score: 37/40 Overall, I think Onua is an awesome set, and I would definitely recommend him and Pohatu. The price is a little too much, and he isn't the most complex set, but he is definitely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast Mode!!!!! Onua is a beast. Bulky, strong, and ripped! His wide frame fits him perfectly as does his mask. The stickers look good, but really? Stickers? The purple in the color scheme works great with the gold and black. The axe is able to stay poised due to friction form a ball and socket joint in the gear mechanism. Pros Color scheme Mask Weapon Size Cons Stickers Price Skull spider is not a challenge for onua
