LEGO® BIONICLE - Skull Slicer (70792) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great set for variety First I should say that my 4-year old son picked this set out. Clearly, this set is not meant for such a young person, but the cool factor drew his eye to this product, so we picked it up. He handled the build for the body and arms very well, needing only minor correction. The tail, on the other hand, required much more help from me, and I was happy to assist. What a neat little build with a unique action! I have a lot of fun with it, trying to steal the toa's mask. One of the things that makes this set so fun for my son is that the legs are immovable. I know, advanced builders hate it, but when we're trying to attack heroic warriors to take their masks, it's nice not to be bothered with the legs collapsing during play. I think it was a smart choice for this particular model. There could be something said, however, for the disconnect between the advanced tail and the very simplistic legs - they kind of contradict. Still, once it's all put together it makes for a very enjoyable toy. I'm really digging the translucent orange eyes of the new villains, too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT bipedal creature first i would like to address some thing....if you are a consumer DO NOT buy a set that LOOKED cool to YOU just because of the packaging and then complain about how much you hated it later.it has to look good on the packaging or it would not sell. there are many fine you tubers who provide good helpful reviews out there. watch a review of it before you buy it to make sure it is something you will be happy with and not wast your money. with that out of the way....i think this set is great. i have always loved bionicles scorpion characters and this one is no exception.his colors are great he look like he is part of the villain team. the tail is one of the best technic functions i have seen in a long time. it CAN strike in front of his face with no problem just pose it correctly. the legs are great and look very skeletal. they do not pose for stability reasons.the designers were brilliant in doing this because if they had not every time you put him on the ground he would be on his stomach and thats no fun. i loved this set and would highly recommend this to a child because it is meant to be played with and enjoyed...not complained about. this set is perfect just the way it is. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Skull Slicer Skull Slicer was interesting, With four deadly arms and neon green/chrome colors easily one of the best sets in my opinion. The Skull Slicer comes armed with 3 deadly swords and a chain with a nasty ability to grab the masks of Toa (specifically Lewa's). Unfortunately the Skull Slicers own mask leaves a little bit more to be desired aesthetically, I wish there was some back story to see as WHY he has just a Skull Spider mask and not his own unique masks and facial adornments like the other characters in this Wave (maybe he was some lost warrior who was a Victim of one of the Lord of Skull Spiders who was stuck under Skull Grinder's command?) . With no reason though,The Skull Spider mask just seems...well...a bit recycled and boring. The rest of the figure aesthetically is great, with an excellent color scheme and a menacing appearance. As to the Action feature of this figure well it's nothing new but the idea of using 3 swords (VS. two or one weapon) is kind of cool, furthermore you can attach the Mask Stealer on the Masks of the Toa (or Protectors) and "Steal" their masks using the same feature. Personally I think that's pretty cool about this figure. Overall the Skull Slicer has a great action feature, lots of playability and is a great addition to the Bionicle series, but as stated previously without some kind of story to go along with it, I'm not a fan of the re-use of the Skull Spiders mask. 4/5 from me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Skull Scorpio: Good build, Poor appearance Skull Scorpio is a simple build, taking anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your competence with Technic. The build is very satisfying and contains an extremely large amount of useful pieces for its small price. The function is simple: Pull a trigger on the tail, and the two stinger-blades snap together, which can be used to rip the masks off of one of the Toa figures. Though, having a Toa figure isn't nessasary for playing with the figure, and contuining the play pattern- As the set comes with one of the Toa's masks, in this case, a Mask of Stone. The gold and transparent yellow mask looks great on Skull Scorpio, and i personally prefer it to the default "Skull" mask. As for articulation: Skull Scorpio's head can move, his arms can move with shoulder and elbow articulation, a few points of movement in the base of the tail, as well as grasp with his claws, which feature 2 movable "fingers", which bring me to the main point of contention I have with the set: It looks ugly. The split appearance of the claws does not suit the Scorpio well at all. The legs are completely immobile, and unfortunately, the design has them standing in a strange position, though it is nice that Skull Scorpio can indeed stand on his legs, the position of the legs cannot be adjusted, as they were 1 piece each, resembling some form of wing-bone from a dragon's wing. It looks fine at some angles, however. The default mask does not fit skull scopio at all. It lacks anything to show its insect nature, and looks out of place, and the head underneath being the standard Toa head is very strange, but since it is covered up by the mask most of the time, it is not an issue. Though, this piece would have looked better on the villains in the darker silver color. The tail, however, despite its cool function, looks like a mess. It doesn't resemble the tail of a scorpion at all, and the default position of the stingers makes it look extremely awkward, though it looks fine when closed. Overall, despite the poor appearance, the set is fun to play with, and a nice surprise, in my opinion. Though posable legs would have gone a long way in improving the appearance of the creature, as well as a new mask, and a potentially different function for its tail. The function works well, there are plenty of usable pieces, and the color scheme is fantastic, however.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weakest of the 2015 Bionicle Skull Characters This set is considered by a large amount of people to be one of the worst Bionicle sets to date. Although for me this is an exaggeration, it cannot be denied that this is one of the weaker Bionicle sets. Nonetheless, this set still has some positive aspects. Firstly, I think that younger Bionicle fans will absolutely adore this set. The tail play feature (which I will talk about later in this review) would be extremely fun for kids and I think they will have fun bashing the model against Toa. Starting from the front, I do love the mold for the mask on this set (same one as the Skull Basher). They look menacing and dangerous and just look so cool on these models. The head is on the shortest of ball-and-socket pieces to make an elongated neck, which does look a bit weird but without which the head could not face forward and would constantly look at the ground. Now the pincers - they are just awkward. A bit too long for my taste, and, especially, they have TWO appendages that clamp along with the long claw piece!? It's a pincer, not fingers! They are neon orange, which clash a bit with the neon green-yellow pieces on the model. Continuing with the body, it does look very threadbare. Although it is supposed to be a skeletal creature, it does look a bit unfinished. The neon yellow-green ribcage and side pauldron pieces look fine. And now the part that so many people hate: the NON-POSABLE legs. Why!? This vastly limits the posability of the model, making always in a standing pose (as a result I can't really display this set well like I did with my other Bionicle sets) . Posable legs would mean lunging poses, running poses, attacking poses... Why, LEGO, why!? Finally, the tail. Uhh... The action feature is pretty neat, with a nice and fluid motion, but the tail just looks SO unfinished! There are visible red and blue Technic elements and a blue rubber band that clash so much with the black Technic pieces. It is very bulky and, when the action feature is used, the two large tail pincers come together right over the model's head! So the only way for a Toa to get caught in the tail would be if they were standing on the body... Also, the tail is composed of two pieces that come clashing together, while a real scorpion's tail just has a stinger. This looks very awkward on the model. A corrupted golden Pohatu mask comes with the set, which is just wickedly amazing. I absolutely love the mask (the main reason I got the set was actually to get the mask to put on my 2015 Pohatu figure -love that set by the way!) Overall this is an OK set that had some potential, which is just wasted by the clashing colors, the non-posable legs and the awkward tail. Unless you want Pohatu's corrupted mask like I did, I suggest you get a biped Bionicle figure. Biped Bionicle models just look so much better than multi-legged ones like this one and like the Lord of Skull spiders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value for the Money This is my first skull villains set and I am very pleased. When reading the other reviews, I thought that this set would be terrible. But since Pohatu is my favorite Toa, I had to get "his" villain. I am very glad that I did. When I built him, it reminded me a lot of the old BIONICLE builds. The value for money, in my opinion, is great. Think about it, Tahu is 89 pieces and he's $20, while Skull Scorpio is 107 pieces and $15. His size is also very good. He is surprisingly wide, and also fairly long. I think his tail looks good, and the function works pretty well. The legs really don't bother me, because I just display him. Again, since this is the first villain I bought, the Bull Skull mask being used twice doesn't bother me. Pros: Colors Legs, tail, and function Size and piece count Price Golden mask Cons: Legs don't move Overall, I really like Skull Scorpio, and I definitely recommend him. He looks great with Pohatu. Thanks for reading!
