LEGO® Creator Expert® - Detective’s Office (10246) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 153.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lego = Peace of mind As so many before me, I was a lego fanatic as a child. When the teens attacked me from behind, such childish things had to go. Now, all grown up, I have some problems with depression and needed something to occupy my mind. I found out that I still loved lego and this is my second set this far. It was a blast to build and it is beautifully. I draged it out over a couple of days to make it last. It wasn't difficult to build, just need to take the time. Everything in the model is so cozy and nice. It sooths my mind and keeps the depression at bay. I'm definitely going to keep using this medicine and plan to buy all the modular models when I can afford it. . This models is so detailed and nice that I actually fantasize that I live there when the daylie life gets tough. I sure can recomend this model, and lego generally, if you need something to take the edge of a hard life. The minifigs becomes your friends :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Value Engineered The amazing thing about Lego is that it can be adapted to your taste. You don't like something, you can simply change it. This is my 8th modular and (with the exception of adding an interior to Cafe Corner) all are in displayed as per the instructions. It's silly, but I'd feel like I'd be compromising the artists vision by altering their work. They're like little pieces of Lego art : ) And yet I look at Detective's Office and all I see is the flaws. It begs to be modified. The two building are too small. The interiors too cramped to access - rendering the play features redundant. I'm guessing the (ugly) gaps between the ceiling and the roof on the ground floor are there to alleviate this; but it's a tacit admission of a design that's fundamentally flawed. The colours are poor. The Masonry blocks are a particularly unattractive shade, clashing badly with the garish barber shop. It feels value-engineered to me, compromised by budget. There are positives. The toilet is brilliantly executed as are many of the small details. Would I recommend this set to a friend? Absolutely... but only after they've bought every other Modular. BTW. I gave this set three stars, which is not a true reflection of its quality. 3.5 stars is a more accurate score I feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best BUILDing ever usually I rush though building new sets to see the final product. this time, however, I found myself stopping every few step to enjoy a few new tricks that the LEGO team has come up with. A ceiling fan over the pool table, functioning fire escape, and a set of "speakeasy" like tunnels for extra sweet deliveries. great details in each room. amazing! and looks great next to my theatre. ;-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exciting build I now have a range of these sets and only got into them late on. This was a must have set for me because of how it looked, The outside has very nice details from the Barber shop sign to the bench, the nicest feature is the highlander pool room. Lots of play can happen inside even a dart board on the wall. We go up stairs to Ace Brickmans office, everything you would find in an office with a hidden extra. Over to the Barber side now and one person can get a new style of hair cut while chatting to the Barber Al, with mirror and more secret features it brings an extra story to this set of smuggling lots of treats and a who done it case for Ace. The down side is my hands are to big to fit into the buildings to play, but for kids they love it, making the figures walk along the front and into the rooms, and on the roof. I wished the Barber shop side was the same size width wise as Ace brickmans office. My next set is going to be the brick bank...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Challenge in a While My wife made a huge mistake at Christmas having coupled my love of Star Wars with my childhood hobby of building Lego and bought me teh Millennium Falcon 75105. This turned me back onto the Lego hobby and this was my first "real" Lego build in 16-20 years. Very intricate with lots of little hidden aspects. Overall a great build that took me a little over 6 hours to complete. As this is more of a display piece for me, I didn't mind the smaller rooms and hard to reach place which would make play-ability very difficult. This one build led me to buy the next 4 modular buildings that I could get my hands on for retail prices. I would really enjoy if Lego made a mansion/large house next and would release more than 1 of these per year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first expert modular As my son gets older, I've been shopping for more and more Lego products, so it was only a matter of time before I would end up getting a nice large set like this. I've noticed that a lot of people compare this set unfavorably to the others, but I looked at all the sets, and this was the coolest looking to me. I like that it looks like a city block with a combination of businesses and rooms that could serve as small apartments. It is a little hard to play in the rooms, but I much prefer the realism of the enclosed rooms than having an open back like in the normal City sets. In the end, I really just like the idea of there being an actual Lego city to go along with the myriad of police and fire sets that my son is sure to get as gifts. To that end, I'd rather get more basic city buildings first. The Pet Shop will be my next expert modular for that reason. My suggestion on the feedback survery was for there to be a mansion or apartment building. Make no mistake, though, this set really does look extremely nice, and is the best looking set I ever owned. If the others look better I'll be pretty happy.
