Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO® Creator Expert® - Tower Bridge (10214) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 229.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have in the Creator Series The build is fun and the finished model is a great piece to display on the coffee table or mantle. At times during the build, there seem to be an infinite number of 1x1 bricks, but its totally worth it - the building wouldn't have that masonry look if they used larger bricks. Pictures don't do this model justice, that said, here are a couple of pics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quit an endeavour In my opinion this is one of the best classic Lego sets available today. Mostly I build technic Lego combined with Mindstorms but from time to time I like to create a classic lego creation. When I saw this set, I was immediatelly in love with it. In november 2001 I was in London and visited the Tower Bridge. Based on my memories and photos, it is a very good clone. If we would replace the real Tower Bridge with a real size Lego version overnight, I am sure many people just waking up, should take this Lego set for the real thing. Maybe it looks easy to build and in a way it is, however you need to have an eye for detail. I suggest that when unpacking this set, you immediatelly sort the pieces carefully. This will save you a lot of time later on. When you start building, create the two towers simultaniously. On thing I regret is that the road on the bridge is a little lower than the road on the towers. This is necessary because otherwise the bridge cannot lift. However, with a half technic bushing and a 1x2 plate you can raise the bridge to the same height as the towers road and your bridge can lift. Take into acccount when you go for this fix, that you have to correct the two blue bridges on top equally. The finished Tower Bridge is simply stunning. I can look forever to this amazing and impressive replica. The color combinations, tan walls, white windows and ornaments together with the special blue on the bridges and the white/grey roof with golden ornaments. Just a perfect combination. It is regretfully that the grey basement is not one block higher, so you can build a Power functions motor to lift the bridge. I am thinking on motorizing the bridge by using a "worm" gear (in this way the bridge is locked in any position). Problem is available space, So I think the best place to put the motor is between ground and first floor where the driving axe is as close to one of the corners as possible. The batterybox can be placed on the last floor on the same height as the blue connecting bridges (in that way you can power the two bridges with the same box. An interesting excercise. When you do not know what to ask for your Christmas or New Year, this is the perfect gift when you like classic Lego. Once finished, it is a very nice presentation on your living room or home. I am sure, this set will become a collector set. I want to congratulate the Lego developers who designed and created this amazing landmark duplicate. Great job!!! Friendly greetings, Bad_Wolf

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Collector's Must-Buy The overall rating for this set is Five Stars! The value for this set is pretty good. 4,287 pieces is a lot for a set. This set would be challenging to build. I would recommend this set to a friend because if they are one of those people who like famous landmarks or collects things, this is for them. Some special highlights that would be cool are: The towers, cars, architectual features, a drawbridge, and more. Be cautious though, this set is a bit expensive. You would not want to buy this set and then ask for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Get First I will start off by saying that this is an excellent set. If you are looking for the short and sweet review here it is: PROS: No Stickers Lots of pieces for the money Moderately easy build CONS: Not modularized (this is only a con to certain people) Size Would I buy this set again, DEFINITELY and I may even pay an extra $100 for it. Now for the more detailed review for those that want to stick around. So you get the box, either at the store or via mail, and it is pretty good size but you tell yourself that it is supposed to contain 4,287 pieces but it looks like the same size box that the Grand Emporium came in with ½ the pieces. But then you open it up to find 28 (that’s right I counted them) bags packed with tons of pieces. I am going to say that a majority (maybe around 80%) of the pieces are plates (1/3 the size of a normal brick). Now I classify myself as a moderate to expert builder and I normally do not sort the pieces out and I stayed true to my fashion with this kit for the most part. In the end it took me 3 days working about 6 hours a day with the “help” of my 6 year old. For the beginner or intermediate builder I would recommend that you divide the pieces out into color piles at a minimum and maybe into size categories for the tan pieces. Be on the lookout for the 4 tan 1x2 sloped pieces, there is only the four and they are used very early in the building process. For those that are like myself and love to do the seek and find you will like to know that there is enough contrast in coloring that it makes it very nice to find specific pieces. For those that build the carousel will know what I am talking about since almost all of that was white. Now you have your piles of blue, tan, white, and the other minor colors; it is time to get busy. The instructions start you out with the actual draw bridge section. Even with all these pieces this section is less than 100 pieces and should very easily be completed within 2-3 hours tops. Then comes were you will spend a majority of your time, the towers. The instructions will take you through a majority or book one and almost all of book two before you begin to realize that everything that you just did you have to do again. I recommend building the two towers together; it is easier and looks cooler watching the towers go up together. On a side note here, that draw bridge section that you build earlier you will just set it aside for a while and about the time the towers are almost done you will finally put them all together. I put all three sections together early, basically after the bases of the towers where done and it looked so awesome going up, however this does take up space so it may not be an option for you. The instructions are very well done over three books. There is very little non upwards building in this set, it is almost as if you are really building the bridge, everything is ground up. Because of this building technique the building process is easy. The designers at LEGO were very good at designing this set. The towers are hollow which is really good since you are working with small pieces and when you drop a piece (and trust me you will) and it falls down the tower it comes out the bottom like a gumball machine. I did say in the short review that size was a CON, this is only if you fail to relize the magnitude of this bohemeth set once complete. Granted the Super Star Destroyer is about 10" longer, but compared to the normal set this is not something that is going to sit atop your nightstand, this is going to take up an entire coffee table or kitchen table. Here is one thing that I really liked about this set, from what I remember was that there was no special bricks unique to this kit and as I stated before there are no stickers. There are two shields with an emblem on them but that is it. This is nice due to the fact that replacement parts become very easy down the road if need be. In conclusion, if you enjoy LEGOs and appreciate historical markers, GET THIS SET, you will not be disappointed. This will become an instant classic the day that LEGO retires it and within 5 years you will not be able to touch it for less than $1,000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Tower Bridge is the biggest set I have ever bought, and it was worth the money. It took me about 3-4 days to build it, and was very fun! But the only complaint about it is that the bags are not numbered. So you have 4200 pieces all over the table and takes a couple of minutes to find them. Over all I am very happy with this set!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Present I was lucky enough to receive the Tower Bridge Model as a birthday present and what a present too! Took me about 5 evenings to build but came together quickly to produce a great model to admire. Well done to lego for the way these models are thought of and come together. Brilliant! Note: ensure you have plenty of room available to set out the 4000+ pieces or a table that her indoors (wife or mum) doesn't mind being without for a week or so.
