LEGO® Star Wars - 1ST ORDR TIE FGHTR - 75101 is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've Always Wanted to Fly One of These That's what Poe Dameron said in The Force Awakens about the new First Order TIE Fighter. The TIE fighter is a classic - from it's unique shape to the sound of one flying past, so it's nice that TIE fighters featured in The Force Awakens with a slight re-design. This Lego model really captures the new First Order TIE fighter and the new TIE fighter pilots are awesome! One of the most notable things about this TIE fighter is it's colour scheme - black and red - which is completely movie accurate and adds vibrant colour to an otherwise black and grey fighter. Another new feature is that the cockpit has places for two pilots - which if you've seen the Force Awakens is very useful for a certain rebel pilot and a certain stormtrooper to escape. The build is straightforward and the only slightly repetitive part are the wings. The completed model is very, very sturdy! The connection of the wings to the body of the ship is excellent making it sturdy enough to be 'flown' around. The access to the cockpit is through 3 printed hatches, making it very easy to place the pilots in and out of the TIE fighter. The new First Order TIE fighter pilot minifigures are amazing! The new helmets are highly detailed and I love the way that the breathing tube on the helmet matches up to the printing on the minifigure torso. The only shame is that the helmet doesn't have any of the red detailing as in the film, but this is very minor. Also included are a First Order Officer and a First Order Crew minifigures. The First Order Crew minifigure's helmet is very similar to the helmets worn by the Death Star Crew from the Original Trilogy. This set is brilliant and an amazing re-design of a classic. It's sturdy, vibrantly coloured, comes with great minifigures and looks fabulous! The only issue with it is the price - I personally feel it's slightly overpriced but that's probably due to new pieces. However this is a must have for any Star Wars, Force Awakens or TIE fighter fan!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the Price of Admission As other reviewers have accurately stated, this is the preeminent version of the non UCS Tie Fighters. Everything about this set, from the Build, to the printed pieces, to the mini-figures is on point. When I first saw TFA, I was absolutely blown away by the escape scene in which Finn and Poe escape in the Tie Fighter! "Uhh, wow, this thing really moves." I am a LONG time Star Wars fan but, that scene is the one that pushed me over the edge on liking the tie fighter. This set has a lot of great things going for it: First of all, unlike other TIE sets, the wings are sturdy, BIG, and tough. I read another review that complained about having to literally stand on one of the wings (don't try this at home!) to get it to attach to the base/pod, but I had ZERO problems with connecting the wings. Once they were connected, they stayed on with no hurdles during casual play. My guess is that something went wrong with that build. The wing attachments are really creative and one of the best, most unique parts of the build. I also like black wing "edges" and how they attach. A big issue for a lot of people with this set is, as with most of the TFA sets: the price, and I want to address that right now. YES, the price is high for the piece count, however, take into consideration what you are getting. A lot of the pieces in this set are BIG plate pieces that, if bought separately on Pick-A- Brick would cost an astronomical amount. As I have said in previous reviews, I am more of a "Lord Business" builder that likes to primarily display my sets, but, the inner kid in me was screaming out thinking about what I could do with all the huge pieces if I broke this thing down. There are also a number of printed pieces ( the awesome red tinted cockpit windshields anyone?!) that are unique to this set. I was honestly expecting the cockpits to be stickers on a set of this price (non- UCS) and was pleasantly surprised when they weren't. On top of all of that, there are 4 Minifigures that are brand new: First Order Officer,First Order Crew, and x2 First Order TIE Fighter Pilots ( that are unique to this set!) I think the value is here when you really break it down. My only real complaint is, unfortunately, the product of one of the sets best features: the cockpit! It is kind of tough to get the pilots in and out of the set which, from a play-ability stand point, stinks! BUT, this is the first tie fighter set that has TWO seats in it (like the movie) so, I understand why it is a bit tight. Other than that it would have been nice if the First Order Officer came with something to hold (Binoculars?...something!) as he is my favorite of the Minifigures in this set. The 2 spring-loaded shooters and a rotating antenna give this set some really nice play-ability that I only dreamed of when I was a kid ( in the 90's) Overall: 8.5/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter Overall, the set is great. It is very well made and the instructions were fairly simple to follow. The transitions from the red to the black bricks are well done and looks accurate to the TIE Fighter we see in the movie. The three newly added tops are well printed and makes the set feel more finished than other TIE predecessors. This is a larger TIE than the ones seen in the past, mainly in the middle. The spring-loaded missiles are hidden and add a bonus in play features. It is easy to store for people who don't have as much space (like me) because of the nice feature they added. You are able to separate the wings and turn the fighter into 3 separate pieces. The figures are well-made and are a great addition to the set. The TIE fighter pilots are accurate and the flexible air tube is a great feature that will make the pilots a great addition to anyone's collections. Now to the pros (and the cons): Pros: -Figures are great -TIE Fighter is sturdy -Well-made -Spring-loaded missiles -Easy to store -Printed Pieces Cons: -PRICE is ridiculous at $69.99 ($70 is what they are trying to say). -The TIE Pilots, although well-made, are not accurate. A special Forces TIE Pilot has red stripes on the helmets (you can see this in the second trailer and movie) That is really it. The only true drag is the price. I got this for $56.99 at Costco which helped A LOT. I would have never seen myself spend $70 for this (although I said the same thing for the Death Star...only pricier.) Still, a great addition to any collector's collection.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Greatly Deataled Tie This tie comes just as is seen in Star Wars 7.It is in perfect scale, both pilots fit nicely! The model looks great next to my other sets. The only downsides are that the wings fall of easily and that there isn't any stand so I was forced to build my own.I cant wait to get more and more Star Wars Sets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Special Forces Tie Fighter I waited a long while to buy this mainly because of the price. The build wasn't bad and definitely not hard at all, but if anyone has bad luck when buying these sets its me. The Lego store I went to during Christmas got a small supply of these total of 4. 3 of the boxes were severely crush but I found one that actually was in great shape. The problem was when I started putting it all together it was supposed to have a total of 3 blasters and I only got 2. The sticker sheet ( not a big deal with this set) actually stuck to the plastic bag so when I tried to get it out I damedged the stickers. Lego is great about replacing but I just wonder why it happens to me almost every time. As far as the tie fighter itself it is nice although a little small.Overall a nice set.
