Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Star Wars Carbon Freezing Chamber is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great original trilogy set! This set is really great! We finally have gotten another cloud city set for the first time in YEARS. And even though people may have hoped it would've been bigger, I think Lego nailed what we did get. The set itself has a lot of cool play features, the highlight being the process of freezing Han in carbonite. There is also a mini platform that is supposed to serve as an elevator to take people up to the chamber, plus, below the actual chamber is supposed to be where Han and the others are kept in the movie. There is a small retractable bad you can control with a knob. The minifigs are also one of the best values of the set. You get Han Solo, who has a double sided face, one looking nervous, the other with his mouth and eyes closed as he is about to go into the freezing chamber. You get Boba Fett, who has an incredible amount of detail and design, plus it's a great way to get him, cause he's in a cheap set for once! The final figure is an ugnaught, who I'm not sure if we've gotten before in lego, but he is awesome! He has a new and unique head mold, plus great printing that really makes him extremely accurate to the ones in the movie. The carbonate piece is also very detailed. The molded outline of Han has the exact same printing as the figure, and again, great opportunity to get this in a cheaper set! Overall, I think if you are a fan of the original trilogy, you will love this set! Even if your just a star wars or lego fan in general, you will love this set!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but missing Leia I mainly buy Lego for photos and I was excited to see a Bespin/Carbonite chamber set. It's a quick build and really cool mechanics including the chamber - I don't really use these features, but for a kid it should be a lot of fun. Would have loved to see a full 360º set, but that would have doubled the cost I'm sure (might buy another one anyway to piece together). And the only other thing I wish they had included, as many have mentioned, is a Bespin Leia minifig. Overall a good value though and it's been fun to shoot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Han Solo's Plight The set contains 231 pieces, three minifigures (Han Solo, Boba Fett and an Ugnaught), and Han Solo as a block of carbonite, which has made an appearance in only three sets before this. Han Solo is dressed in brown pants and a white shirt with printing only on the front, and he has a double-sided head. Funnily enough, Han Solo's hairpiece does not cover the backward-facing expression completely, so the result is slightly unfinished. Boba Fett is wearing a bit scratched green and gray space suit with printing both on the front and back, and a light green jet pack. The Boba Fett figure has a face identical to those of the Imperial Troopers in set 75134, which is something I did not expect. I believe the short-legged Ugnaught figure is, so far, unique to this particular set. He is attired in dark blue overalls and a gray shirt. For some reason, the color of his hands does not match the color of his face, but perhaps he is wearing gloves. The black, gray, and trans-orange carbon-freezing chamber is built in two stages and the result is a semi-circular structure with some cool play features. My definite favorite is the rotating freeze bed, but there is also an elevator, a staircase illuminated by trans-orange lights, and a mystery function lever on the opposite side from the elevator. The pictures on the back of the Lego cardboard box do show Han Solo attached to the hinged bed the lever moves but I don't have the slightest idea of what it is supposed to do or be. I have to admit that it took me a few minutes to understand that the elevator is supposed to stay up by bending the handle that is used to move it up and down. There is also a freeze bed control center which is equipped with a nice printed 2x2 tile for the control center panel. The build is not overly difficult, but for me, personally, the most challenging part (again) was building with the Technic pieces. Some of them tend to be a bit tight and some look plain frightening! The official pictures of this set show gray round (possibly radar dish) pieces under the minifigures but these are not included in the set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "You're Being Put Into Carbon Freeze." When I heard that LEGO was going to release a set based off the scene where Han Solo is frozen in carbonite, I was very excited! LEGO hasn't put out a set related to the Cloud City scenes in Episode V since 2003, excluding the Slave I's and Cloud Cars. The scene this set is based off of is one of my personal favorites in all of Star Wars, and to get a LEGO set based off of it is great! The Minifigures: -Han Solo: This variant of Han Solo has dark brown pants, his white shirt, and a double sided head piece (worried and his carbonite face), this variant is movie accurate to the scene, and is very necessary to the set. 9/10. -Boba Fett: This variant of Boba is new to this set, he has more detailed printing, and his shoulder cape has a design on it, which is very cool. Boba is one of the more popular characters in Star Wars, and it is great to get him in this set. 9/10. -Ugnaught: The ugnaught minifigure is exclusive to this set, and this is the only way to get him as of now. He has a new molded head, and detailed printing on his torso. 10/10. The Set: The carbon freezing chamber itself is great. The colors of orange, grey, and black look very nice together, and it looks accurate to the movie. 8/10. Complaints: As great as this set is, I do have a couple complaints about it. First off, there's a lever that you pull to lower the victim to be frozen in carbonite, when you pull it, instead of lowering them straight down like the film, it lowers them backwards, which to me is disappointing. Second, I really wanted to see some arm printings on Boba, it doesn't hurt the set in any way, but it is just something I would want to see. Overview: Despite those complaints, I am happy with this set, I recommend this set to fans of the Lego Star Wars line, or fans of Star Wars in general. Minifigures: 9.5/10 Set: 8/10 Overall: 8.75/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What is there not to like ! A very good base model for collectors and children to play with. It includes 1 new highly detailed ugnaught (new) mini figure and brings back childhood memories of watching ESB. A number of moving parts including side lift and revolving Carbon Chamber which had new dimensions to the play ability for children. A much improved item, than previously constructed in the cloud city set. My nephews will love re-creating the scenes from the all time classic. As an avid Star Wars Collector I feel Boba Fett could have had detailing to his arms to give him a bit more of a wow factor. Lego have done an excellent job and for the price its a great little set that the majority of people can afford. I would have liked to have seen an accompanying set that could create the other side of the Carbon Chamber possibly including another ugnaught min figure, Leia in white costume and Lando (£20). In addition a battle pack including Chewbacca, Strom trooper (fully printed) and Vader (£12) could have been released to accompany the set. Don't get me wrong I love the set and particularly enjoy how Lego are focussing more on the printing and moving parts of their mini sets. However I am still confused why we are having more releases of sets that have already been eg hoth, jedi starfighters and an escape pod. Yes the escape pod looks amazing and 2 Jawas well wow, cant fault. But there are a number of sets that haven't been done eg. Final Duel Darth Maul + Qui Gon + Obi Wan Clone Training on Kamino + Alien Cloners + Clone Troopers Geonosian Arena + Jango Fett Fully Printed + Mace Windu Jedi Temple + Jedi + Clones etc etc

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Little Dissapointing This set is nice and has great figs, but here are some problems with it and some suggestions I have. This set should have been larger to get it more accurate to the movie, it should have been just black with just trans orange stripes, it should've had some of the details around and the hose above as well as a printed tile that looked more like the one Vader used to control the chamber. Now the minifigs are good, but too accommodate a larger more accurate version we needed Leia, Lando, Chewbacca with C-3PO on back, 2 Stormtroopers, an Imperial Officer and Vader. But I am begging for a $70 - $100 way bigger, more detailed, 10.5 (for half a C-3PO) minifig set. You must do this LEGO!!!
