Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Star Wars Encounter on Jakku is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Niima Outpost This is a pretty cool set. The Luggabeast is an excellent build. It looks great and it's fun to play with. The outpost itself is pretty nice as well. The plastic awning that covers the pillared walkway looks good, and they give you an extra one, which isn't necessary, but is really nice nonetheless. There are some cool features on the inside, packed into a relatively small space, but the whole thing opens up to give you a lot more room. The figures are good too, and fitting for the scene. The set feels a little pricey for it's overall size, but the parts are there and it seems like it goes well with a lot of the other sets that I own. All in all, this is a good one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good adaptation Encounter on Jakku is a pretty nice set. The minifigures are very good, the builds... We'll get to that. Minifigures: Rey- Rey is the same version we got in the most recent Millenium Falcon and Rey's Speeder(but without the headwrap) but this makes sense. Also, I didn't get either of these sets, so it was nice to get this great minifigure. BB-8- The same one in the Force Awakens sets, and my second one, but a good addition to the set. Teedo- This is a very well-made figure and very accurate to the movie. Short legs would have been more accurate, but the normal legs are understandable because he can sit on the luggabeast, which I'll get to later. He has an excellent two-colored headpiece and nice printing on the torso and legs. -Unkar Plutt Plutt is arguably the best figure in the set. He has a very nice headpiece that fits over his torso, which is plain(Understandably). The print on the head is very nice, and it includes some nice yellow stripes that continue onto the legs. They really nailed that blobfish look to him. Now, onto the builds: -Luggabeast The luggabeast is an excellent build, with 4 new molds for the legs. The inverted 4 by 4 round tiles have very nice prints for the eyes, and there is a lot of clever greebling around the whole thing, including two roller skate pieces on the front of the head. The medium azure color for the bluish-grey part is okay, but I personally would have gone for more of a sand blue. Overall the better build of the set. -Unkar Plutt's shack This building is kind of accurate to the movie. It includes a flexible plastic flap for part of the roof. There is a window where Plutt gives his patrons portions, like in the movie. Unfortunately, no actual portions are included in the set, but there is a safe with some gold coins. There is a somewhat pointless feature with a secret hiding spot for a blaster in the steps, which I feel like was thrown in because there weren't enough action features. Overall, this was a pretty good set. The main build was a bit less than mediocre, but everything else was great. What would have been cool to see instead, however, would be a playset with a ship graveyard like in the movie, perhaps with a destroyed TIE fighter or X-wing, or a medium-sized fallen AT-AT that Rey lives in or possibly just part of it, which would include the luggabeast and Teedo, for the same price. Speaking of price, however, the price for this set was a bit steep, but that is expected with a Star Wars set. But overall it is a decent set with good minifigures and a good build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rey: "Him?" I think this is a great set in general but is priced a little too high. I also Think Finn and a storm trooper would be a good add to the mix. but that is all i have to say. Plus reys speeder would go good with this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from '...One Quarter Portion' This set is in a very similar style to Battle on Takodana. It's a small set with great minifigures but it doesn't quite come together as well as it could have. The overall idea is fantastic. Star Wars locations are rare as Lego sets and a lot of story takes place on Jakku. The luggabeast is movie accurate with great articulation but the bright azure colour just doesn't work. Either Lego should have used a darker blue or used less of it. It would be easy to improve it using your own bricks but why it was designed like this I don't know. As for Unkar's stand it just feels so disjointed. The dilapidated, worn and old feeling come across well and the colour palette is true to Jakku, but it's just too small. To really do it justice the build needed to be bigger. The details are nice and include parts for a battle droid, a hidden blaster and rations. The minifigures are what really makes this set. Rey has detailed printing and comes with her staff. BB-8 is also included but if you want Unkar's thugs then you need to buy another set and a book. Unkar himself is a great, ugly minifigure with a unique headpiece. The Teedo also comes with a unique headpiece and it's staff but in reality it's legs should have been smaller. This is a nice little set but it's not the best representation of Jakku. However I think this set is worth it just for the minifigures and is a good addition to any Star Wars collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Star Wars location set This is a really fun build if you like Star Wars location sets, which I do. Unkar Plutt's market stall was fun to build and manages to look dilapidated and like it was built using whatever materials were available at Niima Outpost. I enjoy that it has a little safe for portions/gold coins (whatever they are meant to be), a gun in a hidden drawer, pieces of droid lying around, tools in a box beneath the awning and a little entrance arch. I don't find that the finished set is too small – I don't play with my sets anyway, so as a display piece it's a perfect size. I enjoyed building the Luggabeast even more than the market stall, and Lego Star Wars creatures is definitely something I'd like to see more of. The four leg pieces are specially moulded for this set, I think, but otherwise I believe the Luggabeast has been created using existing pieces, which is very creative! I don't mind the azure, I actually quite like it. So much in the Lego Star Wars range is grey or desert coloured, it's lovely to have some bright colour for a change, and this is probably the way the armour looked when it was new. The minifigures are great! You get Rey (with her hairpiece), Unkat Plutt, Teedo and BB-8. Pros: - Lovely Star Wars location set - Fun to build - Great minifigures - Excellent display value Cons: - A bit expensive - I wish the rations were blue (if the cold "coins" are meant to be rations) Recommended for any Star Wars Lego fans, especially if you like location sets or alien beasts!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs more for your money The set is pretty solid, what you see is what you get. No play features besides a hidden gun. You only get two new exclusive minifigures, which is disappointing, granted how many unique cool creatures are in the actual scene from the movie. I would have loved to see this set for $80, which would give us a larger outpost and more minifigures. You also have to get the other sets to make the scene complete in my opinion. The best lego sets are able to stand alone, but this one makes me feel that you also need the Millennium Falcon to ge finn and rey's speeder for the unkarr thug minifigure.
