Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Star Wars Slave I is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 154.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings First of all this set looks amazing, the size and proportions are perfect and the features accurate. The internal structure is well designed and strong without being excessively complicated or heavy. While the set weighs around 2.5kg it is light for it's size and shape and features included. Make no mistake this is a excellent display piece. The new Boba Fett figure is as well detailed as they could make it without looking over-the-top, it does look a little fussy next to older, plainer figures but that is not Boba's fault. The issue I do have with this set is the side panels on the front part of the ship and the amount stickers and the way they are used. The side panels are only connected along one edge, as a result they are wobbly and flex more than they should. It feels as if there were just one or two more points of contact they would be firm as the plates are thick and put together well. The problem is especially noticeable when opening and closing the gun panels on the side and sums up the problem with this set: It has the features of a playset without the required stability. This is a bit of a shame because the internal structure is so well made and sturdy but is let down by a poor connection to the outer plates. The stickers are plentiful and prominent, which is a disappointment. Getting a sticker wrong will make the model look "off" and you don't get any spares. By comparison I think there are only two printed pieces which are hidden away in the cockpit. I realise Lego can't print everything but I'd rather the highly visible pieces be printed with stickers left for the less important parts. Overall the model is great, it looks amazing and is a very striking display piece when on it's stand. I would hesitate to recommend this as a playset though as I feel it's faults are most noticeable when handled and viewed at very close range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best.. Money.. Ever.. Spent. OMG this model is absolutely jaw dropping. It is an absolute honour to have your LEGO model displayed in my room to show off. This UCS set is in fact my first UCS ever, I didn't really find the build all that hard although I did miss some bits while assembling it so I wen't back once completed and fixed my problem. Being this is my favourite Star wars craft, I am very pleased with the result. With a whopping 45cm in legth/height, this is the biggest LEGO model i have ever owned and will be for quite some time. I absolutely adore this set and I am glad I finally got it! Ever since it was released in January earlier this year, I have been in love with this set, I only got it 2 weeks ago (15th September 2015) I was hoping to get it back in February but I got other sets instead, but I have it now so it's fine. The minifigures included are absolutely astonishing. Especially Boba Fett. I really like the way the front hatch opens up and can clip the carbonite block to the hatch and close up for easy storage. I very much like the detail gone into the bottom of the ship, you don't see this much in LEGO sets but seems as the Slave I underside/back is a main part of the ship to see, it is a very important thing to capture in a fully completed model. Overall I think I will give this set a 1000000000000000000/10 and give my full moral support to the designer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Slave Fett My fourth Slave. By far, really, by far the best. Minimal stickers, actually no need to use the stickers as the ship is complementary without them. Boba Fett is distinct and memorable. The ship itself is a massive hold and quite impressive on display. I've been collecting since the 70's and only provide reviews for those I think worthy of fellow Lego collectors. This is a great display and play piece. I love the minifigures! If you are a Star Wars lover and have the 199.99, you can't go wrong with the iconic value of this set. Happy building!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Lego set yet This is my first UCS set i have purchased and it is by far my favorite set I have been building Lego Star Wars since i was a kid when they started in 1999 and this is the biggest one I have made, It didn't take long to ship to Aus and i was building it for about 7 hours and looks great on my top shelf the detail is amazing and great set for my collection. Defiantly worth buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good but ... The first UCS model I ever purchased was the original X-Wing ... and then went on to many of the ones that came out over the first few years. Recently I rekindled my love of putting the sets together with a hard found purchase of the Imperial Shuttle... and several more since then. In comparison to previous models this one has lots more detail, but less playable, durability and "holes" in the design. While I realize that this is "play", it's disappointing to see that the fuselage is not solid and that you can see through the cockpit window and out the underside of the model. The side doors which reveal the additional guns and missles are really cool when opened ... but they are a pain to open. Opening them up highlights another flaw in the design - the side panels pop off the ball and socket connections really easily. The fact that the panels pop off so easily really affects the usability and decreases the desire to touch it all. The over all feel of this set is that of a "model" instead of a "play set." The cockpit window is not hinged, so opening it up to mess with Boba (awesome details!) is a pain and can also wind up highlighting the flimsy side panel connections. I have a wall filled with UCS models and this one definitely gets noticed and receives lots of compliments (the imperial shuttle receives the most attention and "wows" from observers). The position of the model on the stand brings recollections of Slave I flying through space in its unique way and helps to draw attention to it. Finally - I did not experience the same build issues as others. I found it fun to put together, and it took about 8 hours with some interruptions to get it done one Friday night. Even watched Empire while putting it together which really made it that much more enjoyable. Overall, the piece is one that is best viewed and not touched once completed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS SET IS AMAZING! This is such an amazing set! I bought it at a good price and even without that discount the value for money is great based on the piece count. Boba Fett is an amazing new minifigure, he goes hand in hand with the one from the original Cloud City set. The arm printing is brilliant! The Bespin Guard is nice, shame you can now get him in the Advent Calendar. The stormtrooper is pretty generic but he is still of the newish variant which is in my opinion the best, the Han Solo is the same as from the Carbon Freezing Chamber (except for the leg colours) and he is a welcome addition too. The Slave 1 is probably my favourite set which I have ever bought (amongst the Sandcrawler and UCS Tie Fighter). It looks brilliant with awesome angles and decoration on each part of the build with a good looking stand to match. The price is hefty, and you have to really be a fan of the ship for it to be worthwhile. I would recommend it to anyone and I would suggest buying it over any other set currently released (though I would hold out for the UCS Millenium Falcon if that 'tickles your fancy' more. Hope my review was helpful!
