Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from TIE Fighter My first 'real' kit as an adult and I loved it from start to finish. I played a lot as a kid, moved on, but through a friend got reacquainted with this wonderous world of bricks. This set is huge! Once completed this will need a descent space to sit and be admired. It was a great build with nifty little tricks to create a certain connection or detail to make it more worthwhile. The instructions were very clear, I had no problems whatsoever to complete the set. It comes with one minifigure of the pilot with nice details on the helmet and torso. A number of stickers are included as well. They complement the build with little details of things like hinges and also the cockpit interior. It's a beautiful set that I highly recommend for serious builders. The size and level of detail are stunning and well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Much Needed Addition To Star Wars UCS Line This set was desperately needed in the Star Wars UCS line, and it turned out well overall. Here are my thoughts: 1) As has been stated by other reviewers, the build is repetitive, but if you did not realize that it would be, that's on you. One look at this ship would tell you the wings are identical. Its not a let down, its just the design of the actual model makes this repetitiveness happen. 2) If pictures you see on the internet have not convinced you that this is a good looking set, I cannot blame you. Many of them make the cockpit ball look "flat" or even "squarish". They also make the set proportions look off. If you have a Lego Store near you, go check this out in person. The model looks a lot better than the pictures will lead you to believe. 3) Great design to attach the wings to the cockpit ball. 4) While I appreciate the use of the rail road track type pieces to help divide the solar wings into panels on the outside of the wing (they look great for this application when compared to the actual movie models), they are not used as dividers on the inside of the wing and on the horizontals on the outside wings. This gives the model a bit of a disjointed look. The use of 1x* plates on the inside especially seems like a shortcut. I'm not sure there is a better solution, though, and overall its a minor annoyance. 5) The overall appearance of this model is great. As has been mentioned by others, it looks fantastic from a few feet away. I also appreciate the swiveling stand. This thing looks great paired with the Red 5 X-Wing and I bet would look good paired with the UCS Millennium Falcon (for those lucky enough to have that set!). 6) The use of stickers on the model is a disappointment. This is UCS, surely worthy of printed pieces no? 7) Look carefully, the TIE Pilot minifig is an exclusive. Extra printing compared to regular TIE Pilot minifgs. A nice and much appreciated detail, which makes the use of stickers elsewhere even more baffling. 8) The cockpit ball is very nicely done. I enjoyed building it, and it looks much better in person than in pictures. The shape of the engine exhaust is slightly off to my eye as compared to the movie model, but its close and good attempt. Overall, this is a good set and I truly like it. I debated between four and five stars for awhile. Its so close to being a five, but a few little things just added up enough to take one star away. There just isn't that magic that makes it a 5 star set: the build is repetitive (that can't be helped), the stickers, a little sloppiness in the design details. However, it looks fabulous on display, particularly when its being "chased" by the Red 5 X-Wing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "There's too many of them!" Owning both UCS X-Wings I was hoping a TIE fighter would come out in the same scale. This is an amazing likeness. The wings are a bit boring to make but this is not a Lego issue just the symmetrical design of the ship. My only wish for this kit and all other Lego kits is when a part is duplicated to put the X2 at the front not when you've finished the part. Recommend for any collectors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of LEGO's finest productions! This is a fantastic LEGO set! Especially for Star Wars lovers, for obvious reasons. But even just from engineering of the design that went into this model is absolutely amazing! Also, the deal that Walmart offered on this was fantastic, like nothing you could ever find on an a LEGO "Exclusive" type of set. Totally worth the money, even at the standard, almost never discounted, price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very pleased with the product but had some trouble when it came to putting the middle peace into the wings. The centre of the wings feel apart and the matte black pieces would not stay down. Had fun building it overall

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't be better This set looks great. It impresses on display. The primary complaint I hear about this set is that the round 'ball' in the center isn't round. Honestly, if it was round, it wouldn't feel Lego and would just seem like its missing something. The wings are proportionally and geometrically perfect and the interesting build techniques make it very fun to put together despite the symmetry. I wish you could get a better view of the extreme attention to detail inside of the ship. I also wish Lego would knock it off with the stickers and print the pieces on their $200 sets. Seriously. Everyone hate stickers. Stop!
