Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Star Wars Assault on Hoth is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 68.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The stories are true, all of them. As the majority of other reviewers have pointed out, this was an overly expensive and disappointing build. I thought I would buy it and give it a chance even with the negative hype leading up to its release but this was a mistake. I really regret my purchase. The builds were not difficult and definitely not overly accurate, it's not a great display piece as it is just a jumble of smaller builds, and for what we have come to expect from UCS sets this falls more than flat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An ok playset, a terrible use of the UCS stamp. This is not an ultimate collectors set, this is a rehash of many previous sets with lacklustre building techniques and design choices. There are very few advanced techniques used in the build of this set, something UCS sets are usually known for. Plus the design of some parts is seemingly ludicrous, exposed techic beams behind almost every mini build, a Snowspeeder that is the exact same as the previously released one, and extremely disappointing Minifigures, hardly an assault on hoth with 2 snowtroopers and not even an AT-AT available to buy with it. The Lego group need to take a lesson from this set, a poor disservice of the very esteemed UCS range and an overall poor set for the price. Do not buy, vote with your wallets.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ain't no UCS.More like Assault on my Wallet.. I shoulda known by the pictures that this set was gonna be nothing special. However, since I collect UCS sets, I added it to my collection. Nothing special about this set. It feels like a collection of small individual sets that were slapped together in one UCS box. Not worthy of displaying with my other UCS builds. This one is going to straight to my toddler son lego wasteland..

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good playset - worse Collectors edition The play value is good, minifigures are nice, my daughter asked but where is Lea? Good question. I´d like to know where is the 4th fin? - The action fun by the "exploding" Shield generator is nice, it could be a bit bigger by the way. Unfortunately the ION cannon is also a bit small - if it would be bigger at all it would be more trustworthy to stop a ISD destroyer in his attack, if it would be bigger we also would not face the problem of the not reasonable "sit" position of the cannon control person. (the hatch cannot be closed with a minifigure) The Snowspeeder has a good playvalue but as UCS i would like to see not the 5th snowspeeder with slightly changed colur, i would like to see a substancial modification with more details - which always was a approach of UCS in the past. Luckily i already have a AT AT and a AT ST because two imperial troopers are a bit less for an assault. Please a bit more heart and effort for the next UCS Set. thank you

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun and iconic elements, but not complete I'll start with the positives, the base door is cool, the command center inside is nice. The minifigs are fun. It's great to have a power generator and the Ion Blast Cannon. But the big issue with this set is how incomplete it is. I'm not talking about missing things like AT-ATs, more imperials, etc, I'm talking about incomplete builds. The power generator is the worst culprit. There should be 4 of those disk things, Lego only made three. There are multiple spots to put the gun towers, but the set only comes with two. Sure you can buy Hoth Attach and get another, but this set should have come with 4. The back of the Ion Cannon is not finished, so it looks pretty bad from the back. The Wampa cave is just a doorway, you can't even fit Luke and the Wampa in it together. No Princess Leia was an amazingly bad oversight. She is crucial to this set. Now if you are like me and have a lot of the other Hoth themed sets, it was a very fun project to integrate them all together like I did. I purchased lots of extra snowtroopers to make it actually look like an Assault on Hoth. I've added a few pics to show what you can do with the set if you have some other Hoth themed stuff and the patience to expand what Lego started with (which is the point of Lego sometimes).
