Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO® Super Heroes - Gorilla Grodd goes Bananas (76026) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic set This is one of the best sets I've ever bought. It comes with 6 figures :Gorilla Grodd , Flash , Captain Cold , New 52 Wonder Women , 52 Batman and a banana seller. It also comes with: the Bat -Mech , Invisible jet and a banana truck . Vehicles All in all pretty good selection of vehicles. The Bat-Mech is just plain epic. The net on its right arm works really well in capturing Grodd and Cold. The Invisible jet is good but I wish they'd made it a bit larger. The banana truck is kind of alright but definitely is not the highlight of the set. Minifigs! Some of the best minifigs in the DC universe! Gorilla Grodd is the best in the set . I LOVE that he is a bigfig. Captain Cold is awesome with his freeze gun .The facial expression suits him too. Batman is FANTASTIC with the new cowl and cape material . I didn't get the 2014 Riddler chase with Flash so I'm happy to get Flash in this set.(Anyway who doesn't need another Flash). Wonder Women looks way better than her Lex Luthor set appearance. Love new 52 look. Wish she came with lasso of truth though. Banana man is ok but wish Lego had swapped him for a Flash villain such as Reverse Flash. Sum up It's a great set with minor issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bat-Meh If there's one thing I can say with certainty about this set, it's that this set is fine. It's not mind-blowing, and it's not terrible. Let's get into why. Now, the minifigures are the highlights, in my opinion. Captain Cold is comic-accurate and looks nice and menacing (with a pretty nice cold gun). Wonder Woman is good too, and it's unlikely we'll be getting another Flash for awhile (although the mask seems to come down a little low on his face, the overall design is simple but pretty good). Batman is Batman (I think the minifigure's fine, but a bit superfluous in a set based mostly on Flash villains). Gorilla Grodd is a pretty interesting big fig. I expected his mind control device to be a bit more intrusive, but the print is more subtle than I expected and, overall, it's pretty great. The terrified banana truck driver is well- if simply-designed, and although I would have preferred to have a smiling alternate face, I think I'll still give this guy a pass. The vehicles are kind of hit or miss for me. The banana truck is nice and simple, and is built around an interesting and unique action feature. The invisible jet is a little oversimple in some parts, and I'm left wanting a little more out of it. It's smaller than the Green Lantern jet from the Green Lantern vs Sinestro set. I'm not sure what I would have done differently, but it does feel kind of odd. The Bat-Mech is decades better in real life; I had my doubts about it based on pictures and the like, and although it does have some design issues (the legs only move in and out rather than forward and back so walking motion is pretty restricted. The arms are also a little underwhelming, especially the arm with the net-shooter, which feels very uninspired and doesn't really work all that well), it's not horrible. Maybe a five or six out of ten in my opinion. The use of the super jumper as a sort of "base" in the cockpit is pretty interesting; I've got the dual-molded leg Batman from Jokerland so this super jumpered Batman is a permanent fixture in the cockpit, but if you want your minifigs in perfect condition, you can leave the super jumper out and just put Batman in as-is. It looks a bit goofy, but it's not atrocious. For comparison in terms of mechs, my favourite is the Hulk Buster; it feels a lot more "finished"; the cockpit is better concealed, the proportions feel right, and the hands look a lot less clunky and redundant. I think the set's pretty average; aside from the decent minifigure selection and banana truck, it seems a lot of the set's grievances come from a lack of inspiration and a rushed feeling in general, perhaps caused by trying to stuff too much into a set that really didn't need that much to be fun. Nothing too crippling or unforgivable, but if you want a "finished" feeling set that isn't too gimmicky, maybe look elsewhere. I think the set could have been culled down to a much smaller set with the Flash, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, and the truck driver and banana truck at a lower price frame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some Minor Flaws But Still Nice Set This set has a few minor issues, but overall I still really like it. First off, the Invisible Jet has no landing gear at all. I understand wanting to keep a jet that is supported to be invisible as low profile as possible, but I was surprised there was no landing gear. It just feels kind of odd to have the plane rest entirely on its belly. Secondly, the "BananaCo" logo on the little truck is applied to a 1x3 tile that goes over a 1x4 space, so it's purposely askew of center. It looks odd and there's no functional reason for it. It should have been a 1x4 tile. There are also some minor range of motion issues with the Bat-Mech; a few pieces that look cool but don't really do anything restrict the range of motion of the chest plate and the way the right arm is supposed to attach (according to the instructions and the picture above) restrict the range of motion of that arm. I attached the arm slightly differently and it moves much better and still looks right. With all that being said, I still really like this set a lot. The jet's inverted wing design looks great and other than the landing gear issue, I think it's a great piece; plus it has those nice spring-fire missiles. The Bat-Mech is even better. FANTASTIC idea and concept behind it, and it's very well executed even with the minor range of motion issues described above. The arms and legs are very well articulated and stud shooters and net-launcher work nicely. I also really like the minifigs in this set. Batman is pretty standard and the truck driver is generic other than the BananaCo logo on his clothes, but Wonder Woman, Flash, and Captain Cold are really nice. The moulds for their respective head pieces are great. PROS: -Great minifigs -Cool Invisible Jet -Bat-Mech.... no really BAT-MECH!!!! Woo CONS: -Jet has no landing gear -Truck has off-center logo piece for no apparent reason -Bat-Mech has minor range of motion issues I would definitely recommend this set. Just don't expect it to be perfect. It's still very charming, despite it's flaws. And really, who among us can say we're perfect? :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its a pretty good a set but ... The Lego set Gorilla Grodd goes bananas has great rings to it such as the little add on of the banana truck and driver is great as well. Also, the prints on the mini figures are amazing and new versions of the Wonder Woman and Batman are better than the older versions of themselves for the most part. But as always there are some things that i am not pleased with the most. The first thing that I am not too pleased with is the bat-mech. I think that it against grodd in a fight while having a brawl between captain cold and wonder woman and the invisible ship is just to uneven. I will say that if you already own the lex luthor bot that it is a even match for the mech but not grodd. The lego group that made this could've done a little more with the right arm of it too.The bat mech was something i wasn't the happiest with in the bat vehicles we have seen in the past but it wasn't the worst. I would say it is a 7/10 with out the lex bot. The next thing is the invisible jet. I love the jet way more than the bat-mech, even though it is small, it fits easily and where as others would've liked to see as big as the javelin, I disagree. I'm not the biggest fan of wonder woman but this was purely great. The bricks were clear and before seeing the pictures for it i was really wondering whether it would be so invisiblely or not and it is. I will say it is a very very easy build . I would rate this 10/10 but would've liked too seen it seperate from this set and maybe as another little set with something else. But still 10/10 Next up is the figures... I really like the new batman and wonder woman designs. The flash doesn't have a new design but that is ok because there really is much to do to improve the figure itself. Then there is the banana man, he is so different that he's cool to have and i like him a lot. Now to the villains, gorilla grodd is an amazing big fig. Out of all of these figures however i think that captain cold is just flat out fantastic and he is the coolest looking villain to me i love the blue color he has. There are somethings that would've been better for the price you pay. You pay $50 for this and i think that the price is too high for what you get. i would've liked to have seen a get away vehicle for captain cold and a freeze stand that you got in . I would've liked to have seen that or another villain such as captain boomerang or professor zoom aka the reverse flash because $50 is too much. The overall rate for this set including what it has is a 7/10. The flash's helping heroes and villains that he faces could open up a whole new path for lego that i believe it can succeed if they just hurry up and do it in a flash!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Close, but no banana I'm a big LEGO DC Comics fan. And I was very excited about the 2015 releases. This is the last of the sets that I picked up. And that is both because of the price point, and the content. The set consists of 4 build bags plus the Gorilla Grodd big fig bag. The set starts out great! Bag 1 is the Banana Truck which has a very nice European design to it. The truck has great play value with opening doors, removable crate, and a ratcheted joint in the center. So you can make it appear to be damaged. Though I am usually not a fan of stickers, in this case they really add to the truck, with the fun little dancing banana character design. Also in Bag 1 are the driver, Flash, and Captain Cold minifigs. The minifigs are well detailed. Including the banana truck driver. I just wish they would have painted the yellow boots on the Flash minifig's legs. Bag 2 contains the Invisible Jet and Wonder Woman. Frankly the design of the Invisible Jet is what almost made me pass on this set. While the clear wings and parts are great, the jet barely looks like a plane. It needs more of a body and 2 more tail fins. The Wonder Woman figure is the same New 52 design seen in the Lego Batman 3 video game. And, like the flash, has a double sided head. Bags 3 and 4 contain the Bat-Mech and Batman with the new cowl design. The Bat-Mech is too much like Lego set 4526 Super Heroes Batman Set, only all in black. The Bat Mech does have an interesting chest design to hold the minifigure with and opening front cockpit hatch. The Batman minifig is the one seen in the Lego Batman 3 Video game. Last is the Gorilla Grodd big figure. I must confess pictures do not due the figure justice. It is very well sculpted. And the bottoms of the hands are hollow squares that you can slide a minfig's legs into. Overall, this is a nice set. However, since we already have multiple Batman vehicle sets, I wish they left Batman and the Bat Mech out of this set. I would rather have seen the number of parts in bags 3 and 4 from this set go toward building a bigger, better looking Invisible Jet. The Batman minifig could have been replaced with any other from the recent video game. For example Doctor Fate, who looked amazing in the Lego Batman 3 video game as a minifig. And wouldn't require a vehicle.
