Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO® Super Heroes - The SHIELD Helicarrier (76042) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 69.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase This is one of my favourite purchases. I didn't expect it to be so big!! It took me a whole day to put together. The only challenge is to sometimes having to figure out in the instruction manual if I need to use the light grey, dark grey or the black. I would recommend this set without hesitation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fun for Granddaughter and myself Bought this for a gift to myself. I watch the Avengers on TV and thought this would be fun to build and display. My 7 year old Granddaughter helped me with it when she was visiting. It is very intricate and time consuming, but the details are pretty amazing. I bought it with the lights and motor, and they make it come alive. This is the largest Lego I've purchased and I really enjoyed building it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase The down side to this is that it did not include Hulk, Iron Man and Thor - it should have had these since they all were all on the ship. The other down side was that for an Expert set, it should have included the motor, battery and light. Having to order them separately was not good - i am still waiting for the battery which has been OOS for over a month now. By including all I mentioned above, it would have been the VERY BEST SET EVER. Jacking the price up another $30 would have made no difference in the popularity and people would have been happier having all that in the set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier Not only was this set fun to build, but the outcome,or the overall set was truly Spectacular! It took me 12 days to finish it[A bag each day],and It couldn't have been more fun to build. The level of intensity building the set was on a scale from a 1-10,a 9.9.Overall,this set is amazing, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lego helicarrier not much to do with play, and though i am still a child, i love this set. Great for display, the power functions are very cool, the turbines were the most difficult thing for me to build. The first time i built it was to small, then the other side was perfect, but when i did the back 2 i had to re-build them 3 times because i couldnt seem to get it all lined up. i wish that it had more nano figures, but the 12th bag, which i believe was the last, was the most fun for me to build, just because of all of its fun stuff like the micro fork lift, crates, and cosmetic details. overall out of all of my 53 Lego sets, this is my favorite of the super-hero line. this is the longest any Lego set has taken me, including the death star, mostly because of the turbines and the front two guns that are extremely hard to clip on, yet it was the most fun i have had on a Lego set. Best building experience i have ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly enjoyable build First, I must say that the wrong person is writing this review - I was in the LEGO shop grabbing some Star Wars items when my wife saw the helicarrier and decided she wanted to buy it for herself. *Geek points* This is a set intended for older kids and adults, with many small pieces. Bring your patience at lining up some of the more technical pieces and features, and if you have large hands I would suggest recruiting a helper with smaller fingers. Pay very close attention to "bump" counts to make sure your pieces are placed correctly - mistakes will come back to haunt you, possibly several bags later. The first few sections are heavy in Technic pieces as the frame is put together. There is, as one would expect, some redundancy when assembling the rotors, but they are fairly easy to put together -- until... Midway through the build, attaching the rotor assemblies to the main body requires a great deal of patience and skill to line up Technic connections and splined shafts. It can be frustrating and you will most likely lose a few pieces that you have to pop back into place afterward, but it is all made up for when they are in place and you turn the crank to make them spin. The flight deck is a great follow-up, and you really feel like you're making progress when you get the main runway into place, but the bags numbered 11 have the most dramatic impact of all in finishing the appearance of the ship. The minifigures are fun for playing with other sets, and the microfigures are easy to move around on the actual helicarrier. There are suggestions for rigging up power effects, and I highly recommend doing so! Space is reserved inside the hull for the motor and battery box, and the rotors will spin faster than you could do it by hand. In addition to the lights on the bridge section that the instruction manual shows, we are running lights out small holes in the body and fitting them into the rotors so they glow a bit like the Insight / repulsor engines. Great build, lots of fun.
