Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO Technic - Remote-Controlled VOLVO L350F Wheel Load (42030) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lego L350F Volvo Wheel Loader I got the set for Christmas, and I liked it a lot. I especially liked all the detail Lego put into the loader. The loader is challenging, but very fun to build. When I was done, it looked awesome. It was like the real loader, but on a smaller scale. I like all the detail with the engine, and how you can open up the back, and sides to look at the engine. I especially liked how the fan in the back moved when you drove it. I liked how Lego did the loader arms, and the size of the bucket. I really like the big bucket, which can hold a lot of Legos. There are no drawbacks, and I would really recommend this set to anyone. I built it in a short amount of time, because It was all I did/ was interested in doing when I got it. I hope you find my review helpful, thank you. It was one of the best sets I have ever gotten.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great project, remote control has issues The project was great! Went together just fine. Details were awesome! Only problem was the remote control has a flaw. The AAA batteries when installed, the plastic on either side of the positive part of the battery is so thick, the battery doesn't touch the electrical connection. The remote would not work. We called, and they said they would replace the controllers. Both of them. Being impatient for the new remotes to show up, I shoved a piece of foil in at the end of each battery giving contact for the positive terminals and the remotes then worked. That was the only problem we had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun to build and fun to play with.. Wow, I came across this while reading another review of the cargoplane and started immediately thinking about bying it. Bought it from the store, got home and started to build. I really liked the powerfunctions and the remote control and how the set reacts when pressing the controls. It is a big set, and its fun to play with when finished building. The only problem I had was with some of the instructions, which made me rebuild certain parts a couple of times before getting it right and the placing of the cables was a little struggle for me, because the instruction wasn't very clear on how and where to place them. Apart from that, big thums up. The building time could have been less, but due to studies I had to divide it and build when not studying.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Complex build, really comes together at end This is the the most complex Technic set I've built (I've built dozens). I'm more of an old fashioned "technic brick and square 9V motor" guy than a new "liftarm and power functions" guy, and the difference for me is that with the liftarms its much harder to appreciate how the setis taking shape as you build it, but then suddenly it comes into focus, and you "get it". Because of the complexity and the lack of sense where you are going through the first 2/3 of the build, you can make a mistake and not realize it for a long time.... and then you have to tear down the set and start over again. That happened to me. Ultimately, it was a fun build, spread over many days, several instruction pages at a time, and the finished product looks great. Unfortunately one of the two IR receivers that drives the various power functions motors in this remote control set was broken, and I can't get a replacement for it as they are "not available". Sigh. I guess I can buy one on Bricklink. Functionally, it would have been nice if the linear actuators worked the scoop a bit faster, and if the entire bulldozer could move a bit faster. Also, the turning functionality is jerky - it should be smoother. You can see that issue in any of the youtube videos that show this set. Overall, the functionality is so so considering the size and number of elements in the set. That's why I didn't rate the set very highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Fun!! This is another amazing and totally enjoyable product from Lego. Looking for the parts in unnumbered bags added to the fun. The only caution, and it may only apply to my set, is that after the initial build, the forward and reverse function didn't work. So I started to trouble shoot and found that the motor worked, but not when installed in the chassis. The problem was that the connector pegs 4514553 caused the motor to freeze up. When I took the motor out and inserted the pegs by themselves into the motor.... also no problem, but use them in the chassis with the yellow girder pieces and no luck. The fix was to simply replace them with part number 4143005. Now everything works great!!! Hope this helps someone else. I also added a set of LED lights (from the train section parts bin) and now have a set of working "headlights". Huge fun to be had.
