Ratings & Reviews+

LEGO® Technic - Technic Ultimative (42056) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 72.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Massive Beauty" scale (1/8) If you are a LEGO technic fan, this set will be an ultimate experience for you. If you want to maximize your enjoyment, you have to connect a power function to see the gear box action. If you correct the instruction on page 193 on the steps 267 & 269, you will be able to see the 4 speed change in a sequence from 1 (slow ) to 4 (fast). The neutral and reverse will work the same. I played with the chassis for a full day before I made the body. The final product is a "Massive Beauty" which it hides all the engineering functions in it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Porsche 911 Just finished the Porsche 911GT3 and enjoyed building it very much. Without a doubt the best presentation I have seen from Lego. The packaging was superb. I felt like I was opening the components of a very expensive computer or stereo system. The story in the instruction book was also great. Very interesting to see how Lego engineers and Porsche engineers worked together to get to the final product. My only disappointment for the price was that is was not powered in any way. I didn't understand why it came with all the gears and transmission when there is not an option to run it with a motor/power. For me building the drive train and transmission and actually seeing it work is the best part of the build. This is why I like the Technic theme. Based on the above I gave it 4 stars. My favorites to date are the Arcos 3245 and the Volvo front loader with remote control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great build The kit is beautiful. From the packaging to the instructions, I completely love the way this was set up. I hope Lego does more like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great build, the paddle shifting was genuinely new I typically buy all the new Technic sets and finally got around to this set. Physically, it's only a bit larger than the 24 Hour Race Car (https://shop.lego.com/en-US/24-Hours-Race-Car-42039) which, don't get me wrong, is a great value set. But the level of detail in this set is significant in that there's more than twice the number of pieces for approximately the same size. But most importantly, this set introduces two really cool concepts that I had personally never had the fun to experience. First, it has a shifter in the center (like most cars) but only has forward, neutral, and reverse. The mechanism for switching between forward and reverse was pretty satisfying. But far more interesting was the paddle shifter, which, each time its depressed, increments or decrements the gear ratio a quarter-turn at a time. In fact, even after building it, I'm still not sure how it works. :) I'm going to have to disasssemble it and rebuild it to fully appreciate the mechanic. In the end, it's a gorgeous model, and the level of curvaceous detail is impressive for a lego set. End-to-end a really enjoyable build and I highly recommend it to any fan of the Technic theme.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Build to Date Was purchased on release day. (My Boys and Wife got me this as a Gift for my birthday lol) It has got to be one of the best builds yet by Lego. I like the shifting mechanism and how Lego did that; Very cool concepts and design! When opening the box you first see a very well laid out and well presented set. When you look at the over all bags (11 bag "1" for instance lol) it can seem intimidating and may deter some from building it right away. However, rest assure it is a great and fun build to complete. What got me right off the bat was the Size! Its just a little bit bigger than the 24 hour racer (But the two side by side look awesome!) Aside from the scale, the detail is simply amazing. The design even more so. Set has Opening Doors, Trunk (Engine View), Frunk (Front Trunk), Suspension, Working Transmission lever (Drive neutral Reverse), Turning steering wheel that actually turns tires, and then there is the last option that is just super cool! the paddle shifters that change the gears... I would have to say out of my 35+ years as a lego Fan that this is one of the most enjoyable Technic builds I have ever experienced. Bravo Lego and Well Done!
