LG 100W 4.1ch Sound Plate (LAP240)
The sound plate gives exceptional sound and is a must addition for today's flat screen TV's. The new flat screen's have little room for speakers and the sound plate is convenient, taking up little room while delivering quality sound with normal, music and surround sound and suitable for 3D sound. It took me 5 minutes to install on my Sony flat screen and it turns on and off by monitoring the TV output.

We bought the sound plate a month ago & we absolutely love it! The TV we have has the speakers on the back so when we wall mounted it the sound was very faint, but with the sound plate we now can hear it so much better.

I purchased this thing on a whim after checking out the features. I was pleasantly surprized when I connected it and played music through the bluetooth. The sound of this thing is much better than a simple soundbar! Amazing for the size of this unit. Then sound filled my room. Recommended!

If you like your sound systems to have enough bass to rattle your kidneys. . or . .if you like to listen to your TV at the maximum volume level. .or. .if you are expecting the LAP240 to sound like a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system, then move on to another product review.

The LAP240 is a major improvement over the anemic TV speakers included on most LED Flat Screen TV's. It provides detailed highs, clear mids for conversation and decent lows to pleasantly round out the sound coming from your TV.

The LAP240 is more attractive and far sleaker than any of the soundbases that I previously tried using in my home environment.

Most of the negative reviews knock the LAP240 because it only has an optical connection. They also say that the sound of the LAP240 distorts at the maximum volume level that they test it at.

Fortunately, both my TV and Set Top Box have optical outputs. Also, I never listen to my TV at anything close to the maxium volume level. Perhaps, that is why I am very pleased with the sound improvement provided by the LAP240 and would recommend it to anyone. That is, anyone not wanting an infrasonic massage of their kidneys.

Great upgrade from my LED TV speakers.

I wanted a cheap solution to replace my aging Sony 5.1
theatre system which still works fine , after a complete decoration of my lounge & removing all the speakers off the wall . wanted a space saving system that will give me the same effect without having to trail wires all around the room . I Looked at a few other makes within the price limit & I must say the lg came out better than I imagined . I have always had Lg TV's so I just connected the optical out to the sound plate & it gives me a virtual; 4.1 sound without the hassle .of wires. I Just went for the basic one which is quite adequate with 100watt output . If You spend a bit more then you can opt for the bigger system with the separate bass woofer ( wireless ) & integrated Blu-ray player . For anyone who wants to beef up their flat screen TVs without spending fortunes give this a try I'm Sure you would be relatively Surprised

This lightweight yet sturdy block of sound was chosen to replace a wired mess of a 5.1 sound system that was a special (read: cheap) add on when we bought our 46" LCD TV 8 years ago. It connects with a mandatory Optical out jack (the fibre optic cable supplied...nice touch LG!) t the back of the Soundplate, plug it in and it just worked.
The sound in Cinema mode was room filling sound with decent bass and good mid ranges. perfectly fine for today's digital blockbusters. So far very hapy with the unit but a word of caution...it must be placed under the flat screen tv to literally feel the sound that is 'beamed' directly to you. We had ours initially on a higher shelf and the sound felt it was flying over our heads. It has a wide spread of sound but not so with height. Once placed properly the effects doubles and the richness of the sound returned. Far better than I thought it would. Best thing- goodbye to all those messy cobwebbed speaker wires everywhere. Now LG should make an Android/IOS app to tweak the sound based on your preferences using bluetooth.

The sound on this thing is awful, nothing like we had expected. It has almost an echo or vibration to it. We have tried different setting etc. but it has not helped at all. Our small LG system that cost half the price is 10 times better than this thing. I don't suggest wasting your money especially if you love watching movies.
