Ratings & Reviews+

Lincoln (Blu-ray + DVD) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A time machine that catapults us back to 1865 This film acts as a time machine that pulls us back (painlessly!) to 1865. I didn't get the feeling the movie made me "feel what it was like" to be there in Washington, in the streets and looking at the buildings and other background things that are essential to bring verisimilitude to the film# Rather, Spielberg, doing again what he does so well, BROUGHT me to 1865 in real life# Again, it wasn't "like" I was in 1865, I WAS in 1865# On the next level and carrying through on this theme, Daniel Day-Lewis didn't act as if he was President Abraham Lincoln, he IS President Lincoln# In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a Civil War enthusiast# I have read widely and have traveled to several of the more prominent battle fields# At the point in the film when Lincoln and Gen# Grant have their first conversation, #and please understand what I have stated above, linked with the level of reading I have done,# I had tears coming down my cheeks# I was privy to a conversation between two historical giants that felt as if I could reach out and touch them# I'm 58 years old and not one bit ashamed to admit the tears# It was wonderful# So, let's review# I liked the movie, huh? The technology was wonderful# The screenplay was award winning# The acting=ditto. If you're a history person, you have already seen it. If you are one of the three people who haven't seen it, go to Walmart, get the DVD and take it in as entertainment and you will also take in some history, if altered for dramatic effect. It's still Hollywood. The bulk of the film is breathtaking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best portrayal of our Beloved President Steven Spielberg took us back in time. Daniel Day-Lewis brought Lincoln to life. The victory of signing the 13th Amendment, ending slavery in America for all time and the end of the Civil War. The assination of our beloved 16th President. History woven together with accuracy, drama, humility and the spirit of America, both the good and the bad.
