Description & Features+

"Little Dorrit" - This gripping new series brings to life Dickens's powerful story of struggle and hardship in 1820's London. When Arthur Clennam (Matthew Macfadyen) returns to England after many years abroad, his curiosity is piqued by the presence in his mother's house of a young seamstress, Amy Dorrit (Claire Foy). His quest to discover the truth about "Little Dorrit" takes him to the Marshalsea Debtors Prison, where he discovers that the dark shadows of debt stretch far and wide in a web of desperation and deceit. Filled with humorous yet tragic characters, "Little Dorrit" is a stirring rags to riches to rags story, exposing the underbelly of nineteenth century British society as only Charles Dickens can.

Little Dorrit (2008) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantasic Mini Series! After watching this mini series, I told everyone at work about it! They either streamed it or rented the DVD. They all agreed that it was Great! The acting is fantasic and like many of my co-workers, friends and family members they had never heard of this Charles Dickens novel. A must see if you like to watch period movies or read period novels. Loved This Mini Series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing movie My husband and I caught part of this on PBS one Sunday and couldn't find when the end would air. We found this online and bought it the same day, it arrived that Wednesday! We were able to watch it before the weekend. It is such a good movie, I'm looking forward to reading the book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprise! Fantastic movie in all aspects: acting, Dicken's story to film, entertainment and DVD features. I actually went back to read most (not the whole thing yet) of the original Charles Dickens story and was amazed I didn't know of this particular book he wrote amongst his more popular stories. Love it. And British actor Matthew Macfadyen is a doll--check him out in Pride & Prejudice(2005)! I do kind of wish the DVD cost a little less though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Little Dorritt This a fabulous family movie. It's honest and sincere. I thought that the story line was fresh and different. I am a period movies fan, and I am picky. However I don't regret buying this movie, it was worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth watching! I watched Little Dorrit on Masterpiece Theater and was absolutely spellbound from the very beginning! As soon as the series was over, I immediately purchased the DVD and watched it again! It is well written and suspenseful, the characters are all interesting and diverse and the main characters of Amy and Arthur are wonderful examples of human kindness and compassion. I would recommend for family viewing except for a few instances of sensuality and death.
